In their own words

Convert3D

Convert3D converts 3D models between file formats, including FBX, OBJ, USDZ, and STEP; its website lists more than 1,000 possible conversions. The browser converter uses WebAssembly for local processing and says files do not leave the computer, though some files may be processed on Convert3D or partner servers, and API processing is server-side. Users can preview models in 3D and rotate, zoom, and pan before exporting. The browser viewer can display scene hierarchy, node properties, material details, wireframe view, and material maps. A compressor offers low, medium, and high presets, with optional geometry, quantization, and texture settings, and advertises compression up to 80%. Desktop apps are available for Mac, Windows, and Linux. Developers can use the REST API for batch conversion in applications, pipelines, and automation workflows. API models are encrypted in transit and at rest and automatically deleted after processing. The Free API plan costs nothing for 10 conversions. Paid plans cost $899 a year, $1,799 a year, or $4,899 a year.

Vertessia

Vertessia converts meshes and scans into editable STEP CAD surfaces through web and API access. Organic mode creates smooth NURBS patches for organic shapes, while Mechanical mode fits exact planes, cylinders, and cones. Accepted files include STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF, GLB, glTF, and STEP, with uploads up to 100 MB. Mesh conversions and STEP-to-mesh conversion are free without an account. A free account enables reconstruction and a browser 3D preview before downloading, with three free STEP downloads at signup. The site says typical reconstruction takes 30 seconds to two minutes. Jobs rebuilding under 85% of a mesh fail without charge; 85% to 95% coverage produces a warning. Plans include Free, Maker at $19 a month, Pro at $79 a month, Team at $249 a month, and Pay as you go at 3030.00 USD once. Files are processed in Canada and deleted within 24 hours, except paid STEP files retained 30 days.
