Courtyard vs HivePress

Courtyard is a private online directory for churches, schools, homeschool groups, and other member communities. It organizes people by family and gives administrators tools to manage access, oversee edits, and add other administrators with editing or settings permissions. Members can update their own entries, while the dashboard highlights recent changes, upcoming birthdays, and member locations on an interactive map. The service can produce PDF photo, directory, and monthly birthday printouts, with custom fields available for print and export. Existing directories can be imported from Excel, CSV, Word, or text files, including CSV exports from membership databases. Courtyard says subscriber imports are free; the usual target is 24 hours, with some taking up to a week. Android, iOS, and web are listed platforms; the iPhone app also supports offline directory access. Plans start at $9/month for 1–29 families, and a 30-day trial is available. There is no free plan. Every plan includes email and phone support.

HivePress is a WordPress plugin for building directory and listing websites, including classifieds, marketplaces, and job boards. It supports custom listing fields, search filters, unlimited categories, custom user profiles, and translation of static text. The WordPress block editor integration lets site owners create layouts without shortcodes. Sites can accept public submissions, use location features, and import or export listings. For monetization, owners can charge for listings, featured placement, or listing claims, with WooCommerce available for payment options. Free extensions add features such as favorites, private messages, location search, and reviews. Mailchimp signup can be added to registration through the MC4WP plugin, and the integrations help page includes guides for Google reCAPTCHA and CleanTalk. Support includes documentation, video tutorials, a community forum, email, and a 24/7 AI Assistant trained on its documentation and common support topics. The free license covers the ListingHive theme and free extensions. Paid licenses are listed at $99 a year and $199 a year. The All Extensions bundle requires WordPress 5.0 or higher and PHP 7.4 or higher.
