Overview

Papyrs combines a team wiki with company updates and tools for collecting structured information. It suits organizations that want those jobs in one hosted workspace; its one-user free plan is not a practical team rollout, and paid entry begins at $89 per month on annual billing.

Pages, discussions, forms, and subsites give Papyrs a broader role than a documentation-only wiki. That breadth is useful when teams want internal communication and record collection alongside shared reference material, but buyers should match seats and subsites to a plan before adopting it.

Key features

Pages and information retrieval

The editor combines drag-and-drop widgets and custom layouts with Markdown and a keyboard command palette. This gives teams options for shaping pages to their content rather than relying on one fixed format. Search spans pages, files, discussions, and forms; folders, tags, templates, and version history help keep a growing workspace navigable and maintainable.

Collaboration and records

Page discussions, email update subscriptions, permissions, and subsites support work around shared content. Built-in forms include reports, status fields, CSV export, and database views, making Papyrs relevant when a team needs to collect and organize records as well as publish information. Slack and Google Workspace integrations, Zapier, an API, and third-party embeds provide connection options.

Security and support

Papyrs says data is encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS, and that servers are monitored and protected by firewalls. It states that it adheres to GDPR, can provide a signed Data Processing Agreement, and stores data in data centers in the Netherlands, Germany, Finland, and Ireland. Enterprise controls include a custom IP firewall, audit log, login alerts, password and session policies, and JWT web-token SSO. Support is available by email and in-app feedback; the terms say Papyrs strives to reply within 12 hours.

Pricing

Papyrs is freemium, with a 14-day trial of all Company Intranet features that does not automatically charge when it ends. The free Personal Wiki plan is limited to one user, two subsites, and 1GB of storage. Individual uploaded files can be up to 512MB. That is enough to explore a personal wiki, but not to give a team shared access.

Plan	Price and limits	Best fit
Personal Wiki	Free; 1 user, 2 subsites, 1GB storage	One person evaluating a small wiki.
Team Wiki	$89/mo billed annually ($99 monthly); max 20 users, max 20 subsites, no storage limit, advanced admin	Small teams needing more room and administration.
Team Wiki (40 users)	$179/mo ($199 monthly); 40 users, no storage limit, advanced admin	Teams that outgrow the 20-user tier.
Company Wiki	$347/mo billed annually ($386 monthly); max 60 users, max 60 subsites, custom domain, SAML	Organizations needing a custom domain and SAML.
Company Wiki (120 users)	$539/mo ($599 monthly); 120 users, custom domain, SAML	Larger teams needing those Company Wiki features.
Company Intranet	$899/mo billed annually ($999 monthly); unlimited users, max 100 subsites, unlimited version history, federated identity management, premium widgets	Company-wide deployments needing the expanded feature set.
Enterprise	Custom pricing; unlimited subsites	Organizations requiring more subsite capacity.

The paid tiers raise user and subsite limits and add administration, custom-domain, identity, or history features at different levels. The trial lets teams assess the Company Intranet feature set before choosing a plan, but its 14-day term is short for a slow evaluation.

Platforms

Papyrs is cloud-hosted and lists web, Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, Linux, and API support. Mobile access comes through iOS and Android progressive web apps.

Who it's for

Papyrs is strongest for organizations that want a managed intranet combining documentation, news, discussion, and structured forms. Its plans suit teams prepared to pay for user capacity and administration; the free tier is better treated as an individual wiki than as a shared company system. Organizations seeking AI search or semantic search should look elsewhere: Papyrs offers neither.

Pros and cons

Broad internal workspace: Pages, discussions, forms, reports, and database views cover knowledge sharing and record collection in one service.
Several ways to organize: Search across four content types pairs with folders, tags, templates, and version history.
Meaningful free-plan ceiling: One user and 1GB storage make the free Personal Wiki unsuitable for team collaboration.
Paid entry is substantial: Team Wiki begins at $89/mo on annual billing, so small groups must weigh the broader intranet features against that commitment.
No AI or semantic search: Teams relying on those discovery approaches will need another product.

Alternatives

Nuclino is worth considering for a free starting point: its Free plan allows up to 50 items, 3 canvases, and 2GB total storage. ProProfs Knowledge Base offers a free plan for one author and up to 25 pages, which better suits a tightly bounded small knowledge base.

Confluence is an alternative for teams that can work within a free plan for up to 10 users and 2GB file storage. Notion has a free individual plan for pages, blocks, databases, and basic collaboration, making it a reasonable alternative for personal organization.

XWiki is the alternative to consider when an on-premises community edition matters. Slite is a paid alternative with a Basic plan at $10.00 per month billed yearly, including unlimited docs, 5GB storage per user, and 30 monthly questions per seat. BlueSpice is a self-hosted alternative with a free distribution that includes business features. Slab has a free plan for up to 10 users, with unlimited posts and topics but 10MB attachments and 90 days of version history.

Verdict

Choose Papyrs if your organization wants one hosted place for its wiki, internal communication, and forms, and values the ability to scale from a personal wiki to a company intranet. Its strongest case is that combination of publishing, collaboration, and record collection. Look elsewhere if you need a genuinely shared free tier, AI-assisted discovery, or a lower-cost starting point for a small team.
