| Spec score · AI Sound Effect Generators | 8.4 (#5) | 8.3 (#8) |
| Commercial use | Creen says users own generated sound effects and may use them in social content, video, games, podcasts, and advertising. | The project says it does not guarantee pretrained models are suitable for commercial use. |

In their own words
Creen
Creen generates sound effects by synthesizing audio from written prompts rather than retrieving clips from a stock library. Its sound workspace also supports video-aware audio, ambience beds, and AI music generation. Prompts can specify material, distance, room size, microphone perspective, intensity, and mood. Each generation returns multiple takes to audition and regenerate; users can export audio and save favorites in reusable sets. The workspace includes more than 40 image, video, and audio models. Its sound workflow is prompt-first: descriptive language and model choice are the main ways to steer results, rather than reference-audio uploads. Creen says users own generated sound effects and may use them in social content, video, games, podcasts, and advertising. It lists video editors, filmmakers, indie game developers, short-form creators, podcasters, motion designers, teachers, students, and hobbyists as audiences. Creen is available on Android, iOS, and the web. A free plan is available, and the pricing note says paid plans start at $10/mo. Annual plan listings include PLUS at $6 a month, PRO at $17.40 a month, MAX at $29.40 a month, and ULTRA at $107.40 a month.
MMAudio
MMAudio generates audio from video or text, with a synchronization module that aligns generated sound to video frames. Its command-line demo and Gradio interface support video-to-audio and text-to-audio generation. The interface also has an experimental image-to-audio mode: the model was not trained for image input, and the demo turns a still image into a video for processing. The project is free, with repository code under the MIT license and pretrained checkpoints under CC-BY-NC 4.0. It runs on Linux or in a self-hosted setup. Installation calls for Python 3.9 or later and PyTorch 2.5.1 or later, with corresponding torchvision and torchaudio; the project says it has only been tested on Ubuntu. In the default large_44k_v2 configuration, inference in 16-bit mode uses around 6 GB of GPU memory. The demo saves audio as FLAC and video as MP4, with an eight-second default duration. Output may include unintelligible speech-like sounds or background music, and unfamiliar concepts can be difficult for the model.
