In their own words
CS++ Java IDE
CS++ Java IDE lets users write and run Java in a browser without installing a JDK. Its custom interpreter handles most of Java and core standard-library features, including classes, generics, collections, lambdas, and streams. A step-through debugger and clear error messages are included for beginners. The runtime does not support threads, writing files, reflection, enums, records, or switch expressions. The browser IDE works on Chromebooks, iPads, phones, Macs, and Windows PCs, including locked-down school devices. Users can begin without an account; signing in is optional and adds cloud saving across devices. Teachers can share starter code and worked examples by link, and use the IDE for demonstrations and homework. It is aimed at beginners and AP Computer Science A students, with supported topics extending beyond the exam to generics, collections, lambdas, and streams. The free plan supports writing, running, and auto-testing Java in a browser without signup to start. The listed pricing note says paid access starts at $9.99, though no paid plan details are provided here.
Java-Editor
Java-Editor is a Java development environment intended for teaching and home use on lower-specification computers. Its class modeler reads source files, presents classes with their attributes and methods, and transfers model edits back into source. A UML window supports interactive object creation and method or attribute testing without a main method. The GUI designer works with AWT, Swing and JavaFX components and synchronizes form changes with code. Students can make control-flow diagrams in the structogram editor, generate programs or methods, and use puzzle mode. Debugging includes breakpoints, stepwise execution, watch expressions, local variables, parameters and call-stack information. Installing Git or Subversion adds corresponding menus, while JUnit adds its own menu. LLM assistance supports OpenAI and Gemini cloud models and local models through Ollama. The program requires a Java Development Kit; JavaFX must be installed separately for JDK 11 and later. It is free for personal, commercial and government use. Classroom versions support portable USB installations, INI configuration and network-folder deployment.
