Overview

Famnest brings a shared family calendar, meal planning, recipes, health tracking, lists, and to-dos into one app. That mix is useful for households coordinating more than appointments, but families seeking only a calendar may find its broader scope unnecessary. One subscription covers the family, with no stated member limit, avoiding a per-seat calculation as more relatives join.

Previously loaded content remains viewable offline, but syncing, AI, and most real-time updates require an internet connection. That makes Famnest a poor fit for households that need dependable offline coordination.

Key features

Calendar and household tasks

The shared calendar, to-dos, chores, routines, reminders, and shopping lists bring recurring household coordination together. Google Calendar sync is a Premium feature, so households that rely on that connection should include the subscription in their budget. Free includes the family calendar and shared to-dos, while Premium removes limits on chores.

Meal planning and AI

Both plans include meal planning and recipes, but Free offers only the basics; Premium provides unlimited meal plans and recipes. The meal planner describes AI recipe generation based on available ingredients and preferences, a practical distinction for households planning around what is already at home. Famnest AI, called Mary, answers questions using family data, with unlimited questions for Premium subscribers. Certain AI features use Anthropic Claude and xAI Grok, and limited information may be sent to those providers to process requests; that is worth considering before using an assistant grounded in family information.

Health records, privacy, and access

Premium includes unlimited health records and documents, making it the more suitable plan for families expecting to build a substantial shared archive. Famnest says data is stored on EU-based servers, encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is restricted and monitored. Account data may be retained for up to three months after account closure, with some records retained longer when required by law. The app is intended for adults aged 18 or older; adults or legal guardians may manage child-related data.

Pricing

Free is free, billed $0 forever. It includes shared to-dos, a family calendar, chores and routines, basic meal planning, and recipes. This is a credible starting point for households that can live without Google Calendar sync and do not need unlimited chores, meals, recipes, health records, or documents.

Premium costs 6.99 USD per month, billed $6.99 / month. It adds Google Calendar sync, a Weekly Digest with Famnest AI, unlimited health records, documents, chores, meal plans, and recipes, plus family-wide coverage. The stated 7-day trial gives households a short window to assess the paid features before committing; the monthly price is the relevant ongoing cost. Premium is the clear choice for families who need the integrations or expect to use the expanded limits, rather than a necessity for basic shared planning.

Platforms

Famnest runs on Android, iOS, macOS, and the web, giving households options across phones, computers, and browsers. Offline access is limited to content already loaded; syncing and most live updates still need internet access.

Who it's for

Famnest suits families who want calendar coordination alongside meal planning, chores, and shared health information, especially when several family members need access under one subscription. It is less compelling for a household that wants only scheduling, needs offline-first use, or prefers not to send limited information to third-party AI providers for certain features.

Pros and cons

Pro: One family-wide subscription covers calendars, meals, chores, health records, and documents, avoiding separate household plans for each member.
Pro: The free plan includes a shared calendar, to-dos, chores and routines, and basic meal planning, so families can coordinate without an immediate subscription.
Con: Google Calendar sync and unlimited health records, documents, chores, meal plans, and recipes require Premium at 6.99 USD per month.
Con: Offline viewing is restricted to previously loaded content, while syncing, AI, and most real-time updates need internet access.
Con: Some AI requests involve Anthropic Claude or xAI Grok, which may receive limited information for processing.

Alternatives

Family Calendar Apps is a useful place to compare other options if Famnest's combined organizer is not the right fit.

Choose Cozi if a shared family calendar, automatic notifications, grocery and to-do lists, and a recipe library meet the need; its free plan covers those basics. Choose FamilyWall if a family messenger and contact book matter alongside calendars, shopping lists, and to-dos; its free plan includes those features.

TimeTree is another freemium calendar option. Ahenora is another freemium family organizer. Cozyla Calendar is a freemium option for Android and iOS. Fami is another freemium family organizer. OpenFamily offers a free self-hosted option and supports a broad range of platforms. Skylight Calendar is another option for families considering a calendar with a touchscreen device.

Verdict

Famnest is a sound choice for families who want one shared home for schedules, meals, chores, and health information, with the option to cover the whole household through one Premium subscription. Its main drawback is that the free plan withholds key integrations and unlimited use, while offline access remains limited. Choose it if that all-in-one scope matters more than offline reliability; look elsewhere if you need a calendar alone or do not want internet-dependent and third-party AI processing.
