In their own words
Cube
Cube is an analytics platform with a semantic layer that encodes governed business definitions for dashboards, embedded applications, and AI agents. Cube Cloud supports internal business intelligence and embedded analytics, while Cube Core is the open-source project alongside which the cloud platform is built. The Free plan includes a semantic layer IDE, workbooks, dashboard publishing, semantic model and workbook agents, and analytics chat. Listed data sources include PostgreSQL, Snowflake, ClickHouse, Databricks, BigQuery, MySQL, Oracle, Redshift, MongoDB, and Trino; integrations include dbt, Dagster, Prefect, Airflow, and Coalesce.io. Cube Core processes API requests using pre-aggregated data in Cube Store or raw data in connected databases. Cloud deployment options include a managed multi-tenant service on AWS or GCP, a VPC on AWS, GCP, or Azure, and a customer's cloud through BYOC. Cube lists a free plan, Starter at $40 a month per developer, and Premium at $80 a month per developer.
Holistics
Holistics is a cloud self-service analytics and business intelligence platform built around a programmable semantic layer. Business users can explore curated datasets and build reports with a drag-and-drop interface without SQL, or ask data questions in plain language and receive answers based on governed business definitions. Data teams can define models, metrics, and dashboards in code and version-control them with Git. Supported SQL sources include PostgreSQL, BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, SQL Server, MySQL, Presto, Athena, ClickHouse, MotherDuck, and Oracle; listed integrations also include dbt, Slack, Google Sheets, DataHub, and webhooks. Reports export as CSV, Excel, or PDF, with scheduled delivery through Email, Slack, Google Sheets, or SFTP. Holistics says it stores metadata and optional query-result cache that expires after a set period, not raw database data. It lists real-time refresh, row-level security, scheduled reports, and embedded analytics, and states GDPR and SOC 2 compliance. Entry costs $960 a month, or 800 USD per month with annual billing, for 100 reports and the first 10 users.
