Overview

Businesses set the stamp rules and rewards, then brand cards with their logo, colours and wording. The approach fits repeat-visit businesses such as coffee shops, bakeries, barbers, takeaways and salons; it is a loyalty product, not a broader shop-management system.

Customers can add a card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet by scanning a QR code, with no Cuppacard app or hardware required. That wallet option works worldwide. Alternatively, the Cuppacard Tag enables tap-to-stamp and a push notification without staff action, but NFC is currently available only to UK venues and requires the Cuppacard app.

Key features

Custom schemes and rewards: Businesses choose stamp rules and rewards, including points rewards, and control the card branding. This gives small operators room to tailor a straightforward loyalty offer without adding unnecessary complexity.
Wallet passes: QR-code setup and support for both Apple Wallet and Google Wallet lower the barrier for customers who do not want another app. The trade-off is that wallet passes are distinct from Cuppacard app notifications.
NFC stamping: Customers tap their phone at the Cuppacard Tag to collect a stamp and receive a push notification, avoiding staff action. The tag is posted free on all plans, but the UK restriction and app requirement make this option unsuitable for international venues or customers who will not use the app.
Dashboard and campaigns: The browser-based dashboard reports stamps, redemptions and returning customers. Offers can target loyalty progress or inactivity, with push notifications going to Cuppacard app users; businesses relying on wallet-only customers should not assume those campaign alerts reach them.

Pricing

Cuppacard is freemium, with a free plan and paid plans from £10/mo. Each paid plan includes a first month free, a custom loyalty scheme, customer insights and custom offers. The meaningful dividing line is monthly active users, so a business should choose based on active usage rather than simply its total customer list.

Free Cuppacard Plan: Custom loyalty scheme, customer insights and custom offers for up to 15 monthly active users. It is a sensible way to establish a small scheme, but the cap leaves little room for a growing customer base. The price is custom pricing.
Cuppacard Plan — 10.00 GBP per month: Supports up to 50 monthly active users and includes the first month free alongside the core scheme, insights and offers. It suits a small venue with modest repeat traffic; the 50-user ceiling is a real constraint if engagement grows.
Cuppacard Pro — 20.00 GBP per month: Covers 51+ monthly active users with unlimited users, plus the first month free and the same core features. It is the straightforward option for a busier venue that would otherwise exceed the lower paid tier.

Both paid tiers are monthly. The member limit is 50 members, so businesses should distinguish that stated membership figure from the plan quotas expressed as monthly active users when assessing fit. A free trial is offered, and the paid plans also carry a first-month-free term.

Platforms

The service supports Android, iOS and web. The business dashboard is accessed in a browser, while the Cuppacard customer app is offered for iOS and Android. Apple and Google Wallet passes work worldwide without hardware; NFC stamping is restricted to UK venues.

Who it's for

Cuppacard is a good fit for independent shops whose business depends on regular visits and whose loyalty offer can be expressed as stamps, rewards or points. Wallet passes make it particularly practical when customer adoption of another app would be a hurdle. It is less suitable for a venue outside the UK that specifically wants tap-based NFC collection, or for businesses seeking tools beyond loyalty schemes.

Cuppacard says it does not process sensitive personal information and that payment data is stored by Stripe. Its privacy policy describes technical and organisational safeguards while acknowledging that complete security cannot be guaranteed.

Pros and cons

Pros: Wallet cards work worldwide, need no hardware and do not require the Cuppacard app; the free plan lets a small business start with up to 15 monthly active users; the dashboard combines loyalty reporting with targeted offers.
Cons: NFC stamping is UK-only and depends on the Cuppacard app; app-based campaign notifications do not equate to wallet notifications; the lower paid plan stops at 50 monthly active users, while the separate member limit is also 50.

Alternatives

For salon operators comparing broader appointment or business software, the Salon Loyalty Software list is a relevant starting point. Choose an alternative when its stated platform, pricing or business focus better matches your operation:

Qashier offers a free plan and an Essential plan at 5.00 USD per month, billed RM5/day, with up to nine stores, up to 1,000 products, unlimited staff and CRM for up to 500 customers. Consider it when those store, product and CRM limits matter more than Cuppacard's dedicated loyalty focus.
Salonist has a free tier with 50 appointments per month, online booking, calendar and scheduling, and staff shift management. It is the more relevant choice when salon bookings and scheduling are central.
Salonized is a paid option with a free trial; its Appointments plan is 21.00 EUR per month on monthly billing, with annual billing available at a 10% discount. Choose it when appointment software is a better fit than a loyalty-only scheme.
DaySmart Salon has no free plan, offers a free trial, and starts with a 29.00 USD per month Basic plan for one user with online booking and appointment confirmations. It is worth considering when those salon booking functions are the priority.
Insight Salon Software is a paid option with a free trial; its Solo Edition (Insight Cloud) is 25.00 USD per month for a single employee. Consider it when a salon-focused software option better suits the business.
meed offers a free plan for up to 50 members and a Pro plan at 59.00 USD per month. It may suit a reader comparing loyalty options with a higher free member allowance.
SpotOn Restaurant is a paid product with no free plan, and its All-In Plan has processing minimums and a two-year minimum term. Consider it when restaurant operations, rather than a standalone loyalty scheme, are the deciding need.
Kitomba is a paid option with online booking, stock management, POS with integrated EFTPOS and marketing tools. It is a broader salon-business alternative when those functions matter.

Verdict

Choose Cuppacard if your independent business wants a focused, branded loyalty scheme customers can add to Apple or Google Wallet without installing another app. Its worldwide wallet support, browser dashboard and low entry tier make that case compelling; look elsewhere if you need more than loyalty, exceed the relevant active-user limits, or require NFC stamping outside the UK.
