In their own words
Curia
Curia is a web-based legal research workspace for Canadian lawyers, paralegals, law clerks, and legal teams. It searches case law from nine provinces and federal authorities; Quebec and the territories are not supported. Within a matter, users can keep documents, research, timeline events, drafts, and tasks together. Curia can prepare first-pass factums, memos, and letters with linked sources, then export them to Word or PDF. Uploaded documents can inform a matter analysis, with issues extracted, dates added to timelines, and contradictions flagged for review. The citation checker checks citation format and decision metadata matches, but not pinpoint accuracy, proposition support, good-law status, or research completeness. The free plan includes five credits without a credit card. Paid plans begin with Starter at C$39 a month, billed in CAD and cancellable anytime. Credit use varies: document chat answers cost 0.25 credits, most research and drafting actions cost 1, matter analysis costs 3, and settlement proposals cost 5. Curia says data and uploads are stored on servers in Canada and are not used to train models.
Legalcode
Legalcode connects AI agents to source-backed legal materials and workflows, including law, case law, regulatory guidance, agreements, and related records. It covers 53 jurisdictions and lists 335 primary sources, 299 legal skills, and 884,558 public records. Its MCP service offers Discover, Search, Fetch, Analyze, and Trace operations and works with Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Microsoft Copilot, Claude Code, and other compatible clients. The Free plan costs nothing, allows 30 requests daily and 600 monthly, covers supported non-patent sources in 40 jurisdictions, and returns five detailed concise results. Pro adds patent search and lookup, REST API access with organization keys, and CLI access; it is listed at $39.99 a month, while the pricing note says paid plans start at $25/mo (annual). Searches are processed in memory and not stored. Hosting is in Germany, with stated encryption and safeguards. Legalcode says it is software infrastructure, not a law firm, and its output is not legal advice.
