Customizable Player Models
Customizable Player Models is a free, MIT-licensed project for creating custom avatars for Minecraft Java Edition. Its editor lets users alter vanilla player parts, add custom model parts and textures, and hide or move pieces of the normal player model. Textures can be animated, and parts of a skin can glow. Models must be exported and loaded by uploading the exported image as a Minecraft skin; exported models can also be stored in unused skin space or as a GitHub Gist. Export options include a Minecraft skin file, .cpmmodel, and Base64 model data. The maker lists mod downloads for Forge, NeoForge, Fabric, and Quilt across Minecraft versions. An optional Bukkit/Spigot plugin supports in-game skin changes and offers the same features as installing the mod on a Forge or Fabric server. Voice chat animations need separate compatibility mods. ViveCraft support is listed, and OSC-driven animations require the CPM OSC compatibility addon. The model-sharing site is under development; the project links to Discord for support and bug reports.
mcskn
mcskn is a browser-based Minecraft skin browser and editor. Browse published skins in trending, most popular, new, or most downloaded listings, with search and filters for model type and resolution. In the editor, paint on a rotating 3D character or work on its flat texture. Base and overlay layers can be shown, hidden, and edited separately by body part; symmetry mirrors designs across arms and legs. The closet lets you borrow individual body parts from other published skins. Imported skins are recognized as Steve classic or Alex slim, and you can override the detected model. Import a skin PNG and download a Minecraft-ready 64×64 PNG; older 64×32 skins are converted automatically. The editor needs no download or plugin, and every editor tool is free. An account is only needed to publish a skin. Downloaded skins can be uploaded through the Minecraft Launcher Skins tab or minecraft.net account page; Java Edition accepts the file directly.
