In their own words
Customizable Player Models
Customizable Player Models is a free, MIT-licensed project for creating custom avatars for Minecraft Java Edition. Its editor lets users alter vanilla player parts, add custom model parts and textures, and hide or move pieces of the normal player model. Textures can be animated, and parts of a skin can glow. Models must be exported and loaded by uploading the exported image as a Minecraft skin; exported models can also be stored in unused skin space or as a GitHub Gist. Export options include a Minecraft skin file, .cpmmodel, and Base64 model data. The maker lists mod downloads for Forge, NeoForge, Fabric, and Quilt across Minecraft versions. An optional Bukkit/Spigot plugin supports in-game skin changes and offers the same features as installing the mod on a Forge or Fabric server. Voice chat animations need separate compatibility mods. ViveCraft support is listed, and OSC-driven animations require the CPM OSC compatibility addon. The model-sharing site is under development; the project links to Discord for support and bug reports.
Minecraft Skin Randomizer
Minecraft Skin Randomizer is a free Linux and self-hosted program that creates Minecraft skins by combining parts stored in folders. It was designed for Minecraft Bedrock and also works with Java skins, covering both editions and exporting PNG files. The generator uses categories for the base, head, body, left and right arms, and left and right legs. Users customize each part by placing files in the corresponding folder; adding more parts creates more possible combinations. The project describes these combinations as presets for random skin generation. Running it requires a configuration file supplied with the --config flag. An example JSON configuration covers the base, head, body, arms, and legs, with randomizer_folder identifying source parts and edit_skin setting the output path. For Bedrock, the described process is to select a custom skin and replace its local skin file with the generated image. The repository lists an Apache-2.0 license and marks the first release as a TODO.
