| Deployment | Self-hosting uses Linux with PostgreSQL 15 or newer and Redis; Python, Node and other dependencies are bundled and offline operation is supported. | The maker officially supports Debian and Debian derivatives; it says NIPAP should also run on Unix-like systems with manual dependency installation. |
| Documentation | The documentation covers installation, features, data model, API, architecture, permissions and NetBox migration. | The maker describes its user documentation as rather limited and links to separate user and developer documentation. |
| Integrations | Listed integrations include Ansible, Terraform, Slack, Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty, Proxmox, VMware vCenter, SNMP, nmap, LDAP/AD and WinRM. | The maker lists Python and Java client libraries and a web interface that communicates with the backend through an XML-RPC API. |

In their own words
Danbyte
Danbyte is an open-source IP address management, data-center infrastructure management and network source-of-truth platform. It tracks IP space, hardware, cabling, power, virtualization, monitoring and automation in one system. For IPAM, it calculates prefix containment, available space and utilization per VRF, and handles VLANs, DHCP ranges, DNS zones and route targets. Its DCIM tools model rack elevations, device faceplates, ports, power and virtual chassis. Network views include cable and fibre tracing, floor plans, circuits, VPN tunnels and wireless SSIDs. Proxmox VE and VMware vCenter imports cover virtual machines and related infrastructure, with drift reconciliation; active checks, SNMP and nmap discovery help maintain an observed layer. Automation options include Ansible and Terraform inventories, Jinja templates, signed webhooks and scoped APIs. Danbyte can run on user hardware, including fully air-gapped deployments, without telemetry or an expiring license. The free, self-hosted offer includes all features without seat licensing. The Linux quick installer bundles Python, Node and dependencies but requires PostgreSQL 15+ and Redis.
NIPAP
NIPAP is a self-hosted IP address management system for large address inventories. It offers a web interface and a feature-complete command-line tool, and can allocate the next available address automatically. Search supports IP prefix operators and regular expressions. IPv6 has feature parity with IPv4, and VRFs are supported natively. The system also includes subnet planning, integrated statistics, and audit history. Address data is stored and indexed in PostgreSQL with the ip4r module. The backend communicates through an XML-RPC API, and the project lists Python and Java client libraries. NIPAP is open source under the MIT license and is free. Debian and Debian derivatives are officially supported; the maker says other Unix-like systems may run it with manual dependency installation. Installation involves configuring authentication accounts for both the backend and web interface. The maker describes user documentation as rather limited and directs users to GitHub issues for bugs, feature requests, and other issues.
