| Deployment | Self-hosting uses Linux with PostgreSQL 15 or newer and Redis; Python, Node and other dependencies are bundled and offline operation is supported. | The maker presents Obelinf as a managed service requiring no server deployment, patching or backups by the customer. |
| Documentation | The documentation covers installation, features, data model, API, architecture, permissions and NetBox migration. | The site publishes an API reference, FAQ, feature pages and setup guides for API and MCP automation. |
| Integrations | Listed integrations include Ansible, Terraform, Slack, Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty, Proxmox, VMware vCenter, SNMP, nmap, LDAP/AD and WinRM. | The maker specifically documents Claude and Cursor as MCP-compatible clients. |
| IPAM | It manages prefixes, addresses, VLANs, DHCP scopes, DNS zones, VRFs, route targets and utilization maps. | The product models subnet hierarchies, VRFs and VLANs and shows live address utilization. |
| REST API | A tenant-scoped REST API exposes the IPAM/DCIM model with authenticated Swagger, ReDoc and OpenAPI schema endpoints. | The service provides a REST API and scoped, revocable API keys for automation and third-party tools. |
| Self-hosting | Danbyte can run fully air-gapped on the user's hardware with no phone-home, no telemetry and no expiring license. | The homelab use-case page describes using the free plan without self-hosting. |
| SSO | Optional SSO supports OpenID Connect and SAML 2.0 providers including Entra ID, Keycloak, Okta, Google Workspace and AD FS. | OpenID Connect single sign-on is available on the Scale plan and higher tiers. |
| Topology | Topology is available in wiring, hierarchy, flat and logical views and can be shared by URL. | It automatically generates interactive topology diagrams from documented infrastructure relationships. |
| What it does | Danbyte combines IP address management, data-center infrastructure inventory, connectivity, monitoring and automation in one network source of truth. | Obelinf is a network-infrastructure management platform combining IPAM, DCIM, device inventory, topology, racks, cables, VLAN/VRF management and audit history. |

In their own words
Danbyte
Danbyte is an open-source IP address management, data-center infrastructure management and network source-of-truth platform. It tracks IP space, hardware, cabling, power, virtualization, monitoring and automation in one system. For IPAM, it calculates prefix containment, available space and utilization per VRF, and handles VLANs, DHCP ranges, DNS zones and route targets. Its DCIM tools model rack elevations, device faceplates, ports, power and virtual chassis. Network views include cable and fibre tracing, floor plans, circuits, VPN tunnels and wireless SSIDs. Proxmox VE and VMware vCenter imports cover virtual machines and related infrastructure, with drift reconciliation; active checks, SNMP and nmap discovery help maintain an observed layer. Automation options include Ansible and Terraform inventories, Jinja templates, signed webhooks and scoped APIs. Danbyte can run on user hardware, including fully air-gapped deployments, without telemetry or an expiring license. The free, self-hosted offer includes all features without seat licensing. The Linux quick installer bundles Python, Node and dependencies but requires PostgreSQL 15+ and Redis.
Obelinf
Obelinf combines IP address management, device inventory, data center infrastructure management, network topology, rack management, cable tracking, VLAN/VRF management and infrastructure audit history. Its IPAM tools cover hierarchical subnets, VRF models, VLAN mapping, address status, reservations and live utilization. Interactive diagrams provide site-aware topology views and cable-path tracing; rack tools show elevations, U-position tracking, reservations and utilization across a fleet. A REST API and scoped, revocable keys support automation, while an MCP endpoint lets compatible assistants query and update records. The maker says create, update and delete actions are logged with user, timestamp, context and field-level changes. The free Personal plan allows up to 30 devices, four racks, five subnets, 100 IP addresses, 25 cables and 10 VLANs; VMs and clusters require a paid plan. Personal is free, Teams is $99 a month, and Scale is $299 a month. Paid plans have a 14-day trial that requires a credit card.
