In their own words
Darcs
Darcs is a free, open-source version control system for Linux, macOS, Windows, and self-hosted deployment. It organizes work around patches, or changes, instead of snapshots. Every working directory is its own repository, allowing users to record changes offline and push them to another repository later. Interactive commands let users select changes for a patch, pull individual changes, and edit or discard a patch before sending it. Branching works by pushing and pulling between repositories, with each repository treated as a branch. The darcs send command supports email collaboration, so maintainers can accept or reject proposed patches without granting commit privileges. The project names hub.darcs.net and darcsweb for repository hosting. Darcs is written in Haskell and can be installed through Cabal, Stack, Nix, platform binaries, or a source tarball. It is volunteer-run and a Software Freedom Conservancy member.
OpenText StarTeam
OpenText StarTeam is self-hosted change and configuration management software for local and distributed teams. StarTeam Server combines change management, defect tracking, file versioning, requirements management, and project and task management. Its browser-based Web Client provides access to StarTeam data, requires a user license, and supports browsing plus a limited set of file operations. The 64-bit Cross-Platform Client for version 17.3 supports Windows 10 and 11, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4, Ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04, and macOS Catalina, Big Sur and Monterey. Server 17.3 lists Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, 2016, 2019 and 2022, plus Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4. Supported databases include SQL Server 2014, 2016, 2019 and 2022; Oracle Database 12c, 18c and 19c; and PostgreSQL 13. Integrations include Visual Studio and Eclipse, with additional links for Microsoft SCC, Quality Center Synchronizer and Microsoft Project. A Java and .NET SDK lets developers build applications using StarTeam Server. Security documentation covers TLS, LDAP, optional SSO or MFA for directory users, certificate controls and database encryption configuration. Native users can still authenticate by password.
