Overview

Dark & Builder is a build-planning and item-reference service for Dark and Darker, with a community library of player-made builds. It suits players who want to plan equipment and compare character stats across web and mobile. The core tools are free, but ads and an automatically renewing premium subscription are part of the deal.

Key features

The calculator combines class, gear, perks, skills and spells, with live character stats to help players weigh a setup before committing to it. Equipment and loadout planning are supported, but there is no skill tree planner; players who need that specific view should look elsewhere.

Players can publish, browse, like and comment on community builds. Filters for class, dungeon and patch make that library more useful than an undifferentiated feed, particularly when looking for a setup for a particular context. The item database covers stats for gear, weapons and accessories. The maker says game data syncs with the latest Dark and Darker data and refreshes on each patch, which matters in a game where build choices depend on current item information.

This is a single-game tool, not a general planner for players moving among several games. Dark & Builder is unofficial and unaffiliated with IRONMACE, so it is a community companion rather than an official game service.

Pricing

The free plan includes the core features, which the maker says are not locked behind a paywall. That makes it a sensible starting point for players who want the calculator, build community and item reference without paying for access to core tools. The trade-off is third-party advertising on both web and mobile.

Optional purchases and a recurring premium subscription are also offered, but premium pricing is custom pricing. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled, and purchases are non-refundable. Readers considering a purchase should weigh those terms before subscribing.

The privacy policy says purchase receipts and transaction metadata may be collected, while the maker does not store credit card information. It also says personal information is not sold, though data may be shared with service providers, advertising partners and legal authorities when required. Users can request access to, correction of or deletion of their data, and can delete their account.

Platforms

Dark & Builder is available on the web, Android and iOS, and the maker says the mobile apps are free to use. That broad device coverage is useful for players who want to plan on a computer and check builds on a phone, though ads apply across both web and mobile.

Who it's for

Choose it if you play Dark and Darker and want a free, focused place to calculate builds, consult equipment stats and browse community setups. It is less suited to players who need a skill tree planner, want tools for multiple games or would rather avoid ad-supported services.

For questions and bug reports, the maker directs users to its Discord community. Data requests can be sent to support@darkandbuilder.com.

Pros and cons

Pros: Core features are free, including build calculation and community tools, so players can use the main planning functions without a subscription.
Pros: Live stats, build filters and item data bring several useful parts of Dark and Darker planning together.
Pros: Web, Android and iOS support gives players options across desktop and mobile.
Cons: Third-party ads appear on web and mobile, including for users who stick to the free plan.
Cons: Premium subscription pricing is custom, and subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled; purchases are non-refundable.
Cons: It covers one game and lacks a skill tree planner, so it is not a fit for broader or skill-tree-specific planning.

Alternatives

For a different game, D4Planner is a free option for Android, iOS and web. GW2Skills is a free web-based alternative for Guild Wars 2. If you prefer a desktop planner, PoB Redux is free on Linux, macOS and Windows; its optional assistant runs through a supported plan or Ollama.

TLI Builder offers free browser access and a Windows desktop app, with source code under the MIT License and separate licensing terms for game data. Arrow to the Build is a free, open-source option for Windows 10/11. Last Epoch Building is free on web and Windows, while Last Epoch Tools is a free web fan site. LoadoutDB is a free public reference site with no accounts or subscriptions.

Verdict

Dark & Builder is a strong fit for Dark and Darker players who want a free calculator, item reference and community builds across web and mobile. Its concentrated toolset is the reason to choose it; ads, unclear premium cost and subscription renewal terms are the reasons to look elsewhere if you want an ad-free or more predictable paid experience.
