Darkroom vs ON1 Photo RAW

Darkroom is a photo-editing app for macOS and iOS, made by Darkroom, which was founded in 2015. Listed editing capabilities include RAW photo support, masking tools, batch editing, cloud sync, and AI retouching. The free Starter plan lets you use every premium tool for as long as you like, but exporting requires Darkroom+. Yearly costs $39.99 a year, billed yearly, and includes full access, Family Sharing, and a free trial. Monthly costs $9.99 a month, billed monthly, with full access and cancellation at any time; its plan details say there is no trial. Forever is listed at $99.99 a month as a one-time purchase, providing one payment for full access and future features. Darkroom also lists a free trial generally, while the specific plan details identify the Yearly trial. Its supported platforms are macOS and iOS.

ON1 Photo RAW is paid desktop software for photographers who want RAW processing, editing, organization and export in one application. It supports batch editing, layers, masking, AI retouching and cloud sync, and browses files where they are stored while providing tags, albums, stacking and AI keywording. Built-in AI tools include NoNoise AI, Resize AI, Generative Erase, Sky Swap AI, Restore AI and Brilliance AI. Super Select AI, subject and background masks and AI depth masks target specific areas. Optional connections are listed for Photoshop CC, Photoshop Elements, Lightroom Classic, Apple Photos and Affinity Photo; MAX adds Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom plugins. Restore AI uses cloud processing, and ON1 says submitted photos are not used to train models. The standard edition installs on two computers, MAX on three, and subscriptions on up to five, depending on plan. A 30-day trial is available, with no free plan.
