In their own words
Datadog Kubernetes Monitoring
Datadog Kubernetes Monitoring gives teams visibility into Kubernetes health, performance, and security, from individual pods to multiple clusters. Its Kubernetes Overview correlates component logs, traces, metrics, network traffic, and security signals. Customizable dashboards, forecasting, and anomaly detection help teams examine telemetry. Datadog says it supports managed platforms and self-hosted Rancher, OpenShift, and Anthos environments; the Kubernetes check is included in its Agent package. Container Monitoring covers pod health, vulnerabilities, resource use, and deployment status. Other capabilities include suspicious-activity threat detection, autoscaling recommendations, and remediation workflows for alerts such as CrashLoopBackOff and OOMKilled. The Kubernetes page names Istio, Karpenter, and Vault among more than 1,000 integrations, including major cloud providers. Container Monitoring lists support for more than 15 compliance frameworks, including PCI DSS, SOC 2, HIPAA, and GDPR. A free plan and 14-day trial are listed. Container Monitoring costs $1 per container per month, billed annually or month-to-month; on-demand billing is $0.002 per container hour.
New Relic Kubernetes Monitoring
New Relic Kubernetes Monitoring provides visibility into cluster health and workloads across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. Its cluster explorer brings together metrics, events, logs, and traces for control plane components, nodes, namespaces, deployments, replica sets, pods, and containers. The integration can forward Kubernetes logs and events for exploration, querying, and alerting, and uses service discovery to scrape Prometheus metrics. Teams can link application performance data with Kubernetes data to examine request rates, throughput, errors, and availability. Predefined and custom alert conditions are available, and reported data can trigger pod autoscaling. It can also monitor supported services including Apache, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Kafka, MongoDB, MySQL, NGINX, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, and Redis. Installation requires a New Relic license key and uses Helm or manifests. The perpetual free tier includes 100 GB of data ingest per month and one full platform user. The default configuration uses a privileged Infrastructure Agent sidecar for deep host metrics; unprivileged mode is available with reduced host visibility. The listed Pro plan costs $349 a year.
