DATAflor LANDXPERT
DATAflor LANDXPERT is CAD software for property and landscape planning, combining Autodesk-powered CAD with tools developed for landscape architecture. It supports professional plans, 3D views, and foundations for photorealistic visualizations. Planting tools include plant objects and data, views as symbols, photos, watercolors, or 3D, and AI-assisted editable care instructions. LANDXPERT calculates areas, lengths, volumes, and earthwork volumes directly from CAD drawings. Its BIM Manager imports IFC files with 3D geometry and object information for planning, execution, and billing. Georeferenced plans can transfer to excavator and machine-control systems through LANDXML or DXF. The web version creates and edits drawings in a browser without local CAD installation and links them to myDataflor project information. Integrations include BUSINESS, MEASURE now PRO, LANDSKETCH, and Dataflor apps. It runs on Windows and in a web browser. Pricing starts at €106/mo with a 15-day trial; no free plan is listed.
Picogen
Picogen is a free outdoor ray-tracing system for generating large terrain scenes with realistic illumination across day and night and detailed plant populations. It supports procedural scene work through SSDF userspace scripting and heightfield objects. Implemented rendering choices include Whitted-style rendering and path tracing. Materials include fully diffuse Lambertian and perfect mirror specular types, while Height-Slang programmable materials and shaders support terrain. A sun-sky global setting controls scene lighting, and cameras provide yaw, pitch, and roll controls. Picogen is licensed under GPL version 3 or later and runs on Linux and Windows. Linux downloads include 32-bit and 64-bit packages for Debian, Ubuntu, and similar distributions, plus tarballs. Windows offers an installer and portable zip or 7zip archives. Source code, a no-signup forum, and wiki documentation are available. The roadmap lists several features as unimplemented, including a graphical interface.
