| Installation | The README gives `pip install DataSynthesizer` as the installation command. | The documented setup clones the GitHub repository, creates a virtual environment, installs Python requirements and initializes the database. |
| Maker identity | The GitHub organization describes Data, Responsibly as a responsible data management platform and tools project and links to dataresponsibly.org. | The GitHub account linked to the project identifies its owner as Sadam Husen Ali, and the documentation credits Sadam Husen as creator. |
| Purpose | DataSynthesizer generates synthetic data that simulates a given dataset. | Synth Studio generates privacy-preserving synthetic datasets with mathematical privacy guarantees. |
| Support | The repository exposes GitHub Issues for project questions and reports. | Support resources include interactive API documentation, a Postman collection, GitHub Issues, GitHub Discussions and a security contact email. |

In their own words
DataSynthesizer
DataSynthesizer generates synthetic data that imitates a supplied dataset while applying differential privacy techniques, according to the project. Its demonstrations cover random, independent-attribute, and correlated-attribute modes. The documented input must be a table in first normal form, and the project states that relational and unstructured data are outside its scope. Installation uses the Python command `pip install DataSynthesizer`. Users can run example notebooks with Jupyter Notebook or start the included Django project locally and open its web interface at `/synthesizer`. The project is MIT-licensed and offers GitHub Issues for questions and reports. It is intended to help data scientists work with owners of sensitive data. DataSynthesizer is free and open source, with self-hosted and web platforms listed. Its documented integrations are Python pip, Jupyter Notebook, and the companion Django interface. There is no free trial because the project lists only a free plan.
Synth Studio
Synth Studio generates synthetic tabular datasets with mathematical privacy guarantees. It accepts CSV and JSON files and detects their schemas automatically. Generation options include CTGAN, TVAE, GaussianCopula and schema-based methods. Differential privacy settings can be configured with epsilon and delta, using RDP accounting. Quality tools assess statistical similarity, machine-learning utility and privacy leakage, while automatic PII detection identifies fields such as names, emails and SSNs before generation. The product provides compliance reporting for HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA and SOC-2, alongside audit logs and model cards. Synth Studio is open source and can be self-hosted or used through its cloud offering. Local installation documentation lists Windows 10+, macOS 10.15+ and Linux. The free plan is free for up to 1 million rows per generation under an MIT License. REST API integration is available, but direct API access currently requires a session cookie or trusted proxy headers; API keys are upcoming. Documented API limits include 1,000 authenticated requests per minute and five concurrent generation jobs.
