In their own words
DaTuner
DaTuner is an Android chromatic tuner and metronome for tuning instruments, including guitar, bass, violin, ukulele, banjo, cello, piano, and mandolin. It works offline and is designed for noisy environments. Auto-sensitivity can start tuning without manual setup, and users can adjust sensitivity themselves. The display turns green when a pitch is within the optimal tuning range. Screen lock can hold a chosen note, while filter lock isolates a particular note range. Reference frequency can be adjusted manually or set with an external reference for orchestra tuning; the stated sample-rate range is 8kHz to 48kHz. The PRO version adds a strobe display with up to four overtones, transposition, custom temperaments, notation options, a harmonic pitch pipe, and an enhanced tuning algorithm. Google Play says the app may collect and share app information, performance data, and device or other IDs, and that data cannot be deleted. The privacy policy says microphone audio is processed on-device and not stored on company servers.
LunaTuna
LunaTuna is a chromatic tuner for iPhone, iPad, and compatible Mac computers. Its Free plan costs nothing and provides chromatic tuning without ads. The app is described as about 1 MB and can tune guitar, violin, cello, bass, kalimba, ukulele, saxophone, and other instruments. You can change the 440 Hz reference frequency. An optional Extension Pack costs $2.99, paid once and adds common and custom tunings, transposition, an in-tune precision setting, 14 extra color ways, dark mode support, and alternate temperaments. Compatibility is iOS or iPadOS 14 or later on iPhone and iPad, and macOS 11 or later on Macs with an M1 or newer chip. Bass cut is enabled by default; tuning C#2 or lower requires turning it off, although the extension ignores bass cut for tunings with low notes. Quiet surroundings help pitch detection, and low-output instruments may need the microphone close to their strings.
