In their own words
dbdiff
DBDiff is a free, MIT-licensed tool for comparing local or remote MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQLite databases and generating migrations from schema or data differences. It can produce SQL migrations with up and down changes, using native SQL, Flyway, Liquibase, Laravel, or custom templates. The migration runner can create, apply, roll back, check, validate, repair, and baseline migrations. Listed comparison targets include tables, views, triggers, routines, types, sequences, row-level security policies, and data. Its configuration file can specify connections, drivers, diff scope, included or ignored tables and fields, and row filters. Installation options include pre-built Windows, macOS, and Linux binaries, npm, PHAR, Docker or Podman images, and Composer source. For PostgreSQL, DBDiff also compares row-level security policies and table security flags. By default, generation stops when a migration would drop a table or column, though an option permits those changes. One documented PostgreSQL limitation is that removing or reordering enum labels may leave dependent objects that prevent an automatically generated migration from applying.
SQL Delta
SQL Delta is a Windows tool for comparing database schemas and data before changes reach production. SQL Delta 7 compares source and target databases that use the same server type; SQL DXP is intended for comparisons across different server types. Schema Compare shows structural differences in live databases or snapshots and lets users select what to include in a deployment script. Data Compare identifies row-level differences between environments. Users can review and edit synchronization scripts before executing them against a target, and projects can add custom script to deployment scripts. SQL Delta can save HTML reports and XML snapshots for release reviews or recovery work. Project completion events and command-line execution support automated runs. Editions are listed for SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL. A separate Read Only Edition allows comparison and script generation but prevents direct script execution. The latest full product download has a 14-day trial. The MySQL single-license plan is $185 as a one-time purchase and includes a two-year software update subscription; purchase terms also describe a perpetual license.
