| License | The DBeaver Community source repository states that its code is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. | KEXI is contributor-owned free and open-source software under LGPL version 2, and the maker says projects created with it remain the user's property. |
| Security controls | PRO editions offer master-password protection, encrypted credential storage, SSO and enterprise authentication options such as SAML, Okta and Kerberos. | Locked-Down User Mode disables design features for users without special permissions, helping prevent changes to database structures and reports. |
| Support | Community Edition users are directed to GitHub issues, while PRO trial users and licensed customers submit tickets through DBeaver's online support system. | The project points users to documentation, FAQs, tutorials, community discussions, and Bugzilla; it asks users not to email developers directly for support. |
| What it does | DBeaver Community is a universal database management tool for exploring and managing relational databases, with separate PRO editions for broader SQL, NoSQL, cloud and enterprise work. | KEXI is a visual database apps builder for organizing, editing, and managing data, and creating forms and reports. |

In their own words
DBeaver
DBeaver is a database management product range that includes a free, open-source Community edition and paid editions. Community supports databases with a JDBC driver and can also work with external data sources that lack one. Its desktop tools include an SQL editor, spreadsheet-like data editing, a visual query builder, and tools for importing, exporting, comparing, and migrating data. DBeaver says its products connect to more than 100 sources, including SQL, NoSQL, and cloud databases. Ultimate adds native AWS, GCP, and Azure support with Cloud Explorer for cloud and on-premise databases. The wider range includes CloudBeaver Enterprise as a web-server application and Team Edition as a server platform with GraphQL and REST APIs, an MCP server, and a JDBC proxy driver. DBeaver supports Windows 10 or later, Windows Server 2016 or later, macOS 11 or later, and most modern Linux distributions. Community is free under Apache License 2. Paid individual subscriptions include Lite at $12 a month or $113 a year, Enterprise at $26 a month or $255 a year, and Ultimate at $51 a month or $510 a year.
