In their own words
DeansList
DeansList is an online platform for schools to manage student behavior, attendance, communications, family engagement and school operations. Its behavior tools support SEL, PBIS and MTSS, with points, merits, demerits, rewards, consequences and school stores. Teachers can submit behavior or discipline referrals online, prompting instant notifications to administrators. Attendance can be recorded on the web or mobile devices; DeansList says it syncs with most student information systems to avoid duplicate entry. Schools can send families text, email and voice messages with automatic translation into more than 100 languages. They can create custom reports, report cards, letters and transcripts, and build reports using basic web code. Requested integrations may exchange data with SIS, data warehouse and single sign-on systems; named examples include Google Sheets, Jupiter, Illuminate and Infinite Campus. The platform lists Android, iOS and web, with attendance apps also available for Kindle. The School Success Team provides implementation, training, ongoing support and professional development at no additional cost. Pricing is on request. The maker describes the service as for schools, not private individuals.
Notis
Notis is a school communications and engagement app for schools and districts, designed to support PBIS/MTSS and Tier 1 behavior interventions. It connects students, teachers, parents and administrators through announcements, newsletters, reminders, live feeds and parent communication. Schools can award points for activities and achievements, then let students redeem them for school-selected prizes. Students can check in to events using geofencing and earn points. Other tools include group chats, polls and surveys, club management, and teacher-parent scheduling. Schools approve users, can remove them through a dashboard, and control which features and content are enabled. Private messaging is limited to users with a reason to contact each other, such as a shared team or class partnership. Schools may opt into business advertising and keep 70% of its revenue, or arrange for a business to sponsor the subscription. Notis is available on Android, iOS and the web. Pricing is not published; schools are directed to schedule a demo. The maker says its work on Notis began in 2013 and is based in Sandy, Utah.
