DeepL Write
DeepL Write is a writing assistant for revising text with corrections, alternative wording, rephrasing, and selectable styles and tones. It lists 19 writing languages. Users can access it through mobile and desktop apps, browser extensions, or integrations with Microsoft Word, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and AI agents. Extensions are available for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge; listed apps include Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone, and iPad. The free version includes 50,000 characters per user per month and one file translation per user per month, for files up to 5 MB. The Write Pro add-on costs €6.99 a month, billed annually with VAT included, and is available as an add-on to DeepL Pro Individual or Team. Team plans include administration, analytics and reporting, and single sign-on; teams can share a file translation limit or assign the same limit to each member. DeepL cites ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certified processes and infrastructure. For Pro, content is temporarily stored only as technically needed, then deleted unless otherwise specified.
Google Translate
Google Translate provides translation for text, speech, images, conversations, documents, and websites, with API access. On the web, users can enter text, have its source language detected, and select a translation language. The mobile app can translate text through a camera or from phone images, accept voice input and handwriting, and support conversations between speakers of different languages. Language packs allow offline translation, while copied text from another app can be translated with a tap. Saved words and phrases are available across devices. The Google Play listing says typed text translation covers 108 languages. On the web, DOCX, PDF, PPTX, and XLSX document translation supports files up to 10 MB, with PDFs limited to 300 pages. Document translation is unavailable on mobile and smaller screens, and does not translate text embedded in images or scanned PDF pages. Computer microphone translation is fully supported in Chrome and has limited support in Safari and Edge. Google Translate is free to use at free on Android, iOS, web, and API.
