Deepnote

Deepnote is an AI workspace for data professionals working on data analysis, exploration, and machine learning. Its copilot can chat with data, make charts, and write code; notebooks can also become dashboards or interactive apps with live data. Teams can collaborate in notebooks, comment on blocks, and share work by link or email invitation. Notebooks can run on hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly schedules, or be deployed as APIs. Listed integrations include PostgreSQL, BigQuery, Amazon S3, MySQL, Snowflake, GitHub, and dbt. Deepnote supports Python, SQL, R, and Stata, with a hybrid execution model and notebook formats including .deepnote, .ipynb, .qmd, .py, and PDF. The free plan allows up to three editors and five projects, with seven-day revision history. Paid pricing starts at $39/user/mo (annual); a 14-day trial is listed. Deepnote says it has SOC 2 Type II certification, encrypts data at rest and in transit, and does not use customer data to improve AI or ML models.

Orange Data Mining

Orange Data Mining is open-source software for machine learning, data mining, and data visualization. It runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows, and is available for free under the GNU GPL 3.0 or later; add-ons may have additional licensing requirements. Users make analyses by connecting widgets for retrieving and preparing data, visualizing it, building models, and evaluating them. Interactive views include scatter plots, box plots, histograms, heat maps, MDS projections, and model-specific displays. The model catalog includes methods such as decision trees, random forests, support vector machines, neural networks, and logistic regression. Add-ons cover areas including text mining, network analysis, fairness, time series, and gene expression analysis. Data can come from spreadsheet and text files, Google Spreadsheets, and PostgreSQL or MSSQL databases; the SQL widget supports only PostgreSQL and MSSQL. Orange is installed locally and can work offline. Embedded widgets send data to a server for computation, though the FAQ says it is not stored there. Orange cannot export workflows as Python scripts and is not compatible with R.
