In their own words
Defragger
Defragger is a graphical Linux tool for examining and defragmenting filesystems, with a map showing file, free-space, and metadata allocation. Its analysis identifies fragmentation and displays filesystem blocks in an adaptive map. The project supports online defragmentation of ext4 and offline defragmentation and compaction of FAT16 and FAT32. FAT12 and exFAT can be analyzed, but not modified. A command-line interface can list, analyze, defragment, and compact volumes. The interface and command-line program run without elevated privileges; operations that need them use a PolicyKit-authorized helper over D-Bus. The stated environment is Linux with Qt 6 and KDE Kirigami; privileged mode also requires systemd, PolicyKit, and an active graphical PolicyKit agent. For ext4, Defragger uses Linux filesystem ioctls directly rather than calling e4defrag or filefrag. The project labels the software alpha, recommends backing up important data, and says ext4 has received the most testing. FAT write support is newer, so it recommends beginning with disposable or fully backed-up volumes. The software is dual-licensed under MIT or Apache License 2.0.
DiskTuna
DiskTuna’s JPEG-Repair Toolkit combines JPEG-Repair for damaged photos with JpegDigger for recovering lost images. It runs on Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11 and processes files locally on the PC, without uploading them to remote servers. JPEG-Repair addresses corrupt headers, invalid markers, bad-sector damage, and JPEG bitstream errors with visual feedback. It can recover JPEG data from corrupt RAW photos such as Canon CR2 and Nikon NEF files, and does not re-encode JPEG images. The demo shows low-resolution previews; the full version enables high-quality saves. Repairing a corrupt JPEG header requires a reference photo made with the same camera and settings. The toolkit specializes in JPEG and specified RAW formats and does not repair PNG files. The listed plan includes both tools and is billed at €29.00–€49.00, excluding applicable taxes. Downloads are unsigned and may trigger Windows SmartScreen warnings, including after updates. The maker offers a refund only when the demo works on the files but the full version fails on those same files.
