PurposeDefraginator is a desktop app that defragments split .bin ROM and firmware images on SD cards and other removable media.WinContig defragments individual files or entire folders without requiring a whole-disk defragmentation.
Windows supportOn Windows, it uses filesystem controls to find contiguous free clusters and move file clusters in place; moving clusters requires administrator rights. It supports Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11, plus Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2019, in 32-bit and 64-bit editions.

In their own words

Defraginator

Defraginator is a desktop utility for making selected ROM and firmware `.bin` images contiguous on removable storage. It detects mounted volumes that appear to be removable, scans them recursively, and checks matching files’ physical layout. You can enable or disable target sizes of 256 KB, 512 KB, 1024 KB, and 2048 KB; files outside those sizes are not in scope. The app needs a single free gap at least as large as the file. It reports available free space and, on Windows, the largest contiguous block; on Linux and macOS, that largest-block figure is unknown. Windows moves clusters in place and requires administrator rights. Linux and macOS rewrite files into newly allocated space and check their physical extents; the Linux FIBMAP fallback requires root, while the listed macOS operations run as a normal user. The project says it restores the original after an unsuccessful rewrite and reports success only after verifying contiguity. Keep the card connected during work. Defraginator is free and GPL-3.0 licensed; building it requires the .NET 10 SDK.

WinContig

WinContig defragments selected files or folders, so you can process frequently used items without defragmenting an entire disk. It is a Windows standalone executable: no installation or additional DLLs are required, and its files and settings stay in one folder. It supports FAT, FAT32, exFAT, NTFS, and ReFS on internal and external HDDs and SSDs. You can save groups of files and folders as profiles, use command-line switches in scripts or scheduled tasks, and add optional analyze and defragment commands to File Explorer. WinContig can also scan for file-system errors, retrieve S.M.A.R.T. data, and remove temporary files before defragmentation. It supports Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11, along with Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2019, in 32-bit and 64-bit editions. It needs 6 MB of free disk space and administrator access. The Freeware plan costs nothing, with personal and commercial use on unlimited Windows computers and no registration or payment.
