In their own words
Descartes Sellercloud
Descartes Sellercloud is an ecommerce operations platform covering catalog, orders, inventory, warehouse work, shipping, purchasing, reporting, accounting and returns. Businesses can manage listings, orders, inventory and fulfillment across sales channels from one interface, with multi-warehouse support, order routing, picking and packing, shipment handoff and returns workflows. Sellercloud lists more than 350 built-in integrations, including Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Shopify and BigCommerce, and says customers can use all 50-plus sales-channel integrations and add channels as desired. Inventory synchronizes across warehouses and channels in real time. Predictive purchasing uses sales history to recommend when, what and how much to order. Warehouse and shipping tools cover picking, packing, label printing and shipping rules; automation rules and RESTful APIs with thousands of endpoints are also available. Employee access can be limited by company, webpage, function, role and purchasing-cost visibility, and two-factor authentication is mandatory for Client Admin and Employee accounts. The listed subscription is $1,349 a year, based on order volume and add-ons.
Katana
Katana is web-based inventory and order management software with barcode scanning, purchase orders, sales orders and stock alerts. Its permanent Free tier costs nothing, requires no credit card and has no expiry date. Free includes 30 SKUs, unlimited users, unlimited integrations and unlimited inventory locations. Core starts at $299 a month, scales with usage and add-ons, and includes unlimited SKUs, users and integrations with one inventory location. Advantage has no listed price and offers custom integrations, custom dashboards and reports, custom automations and workflows, a dedicated Solutions Engineer, SLA-backed maintenance and regular CSM check-ins. Katana is available on the web, with no mobile apps listed. The company was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia. The tiers create a clear capacity trade-off: Free allows unlimited inventory locations but limits SKUs to 30, while Core removes the SKU limit and provides one location.
