Overview

iTop Easy Desktop is a Windows desktop manager that groups icons and files into a customizable workspace, with tools for searching, protected storage and everyday tasks. It suits people who want more than a tidier desktop, but the latest version’s Windows 10 requirement and the Free plan’s three-box cap narrow its appeal.

Its strongest case is breadth: automatic organization sits alongside folder access, wallpapers, screenshots, scheduling and an AI assistant. That range is useful if you want several desktop utilities in one app; if you only need basic icon grouping, the paid-only personalization and capped Free plan deserve a close look.

Key features

Organization and access

One-click sorting groups desktop icons into categories such as Documents, Images, Applications and Folders, cutting down on manual tidying. Search finds files or folders by name, and Folder Portal puts the contents of any PC folder within direct desktop reach. Saved layouts and multi-monitor support add flexibility, although the Free plan allows only three boxes, which may be limiting if you want separate spaces for many projects or categories.

Privacy and utilities

Private Box uses a password to protect selected photos, videos and documents from unauthorized access. iTop says the app runs locally and that files and data are not sent to its servers. More than 23,000 watermark-free static and live wallpapers, with 4K/8K video support, make the visual customization offering unusually broad; however, personalization of themes, the taskbar, Start Menu, desktop icons and mouse is reserved for Pro accounts.

The AI Assistant brings together ChatAI, Search and Screenshot tools; ChatAI can help with writing, translation and summaries as well as chat. Schedule synchronizes with Google Calendar or Windows Calendar after you add a Google or Microsoft account. The Screenshot tool captures a full screen, current window or scrolling window. These extras give the desktop manager a wider role, though anyone seeking only organization may not need them.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes three boxes and limited wallpapers. It is a sensible starting point for a lightly organized desktop, but the box cap and wallpaper restriction make it a constrained long-term choice for people who want extensive organization or visual variety.

Pro costs 7.99 USD per month for six months on one device, or 11.99 USD per year for one device. Both include Pro features, including personalization; the annual single-device option is the lower-cost fit for someone committed to using it on one PC. A 30-day trial gives prospective buyers time to assess the upgrade. The 19.99 USD per year plan covers five devices and includes six months free, making it the clearest fit for households or users with several PCs. The Pro sales page states 24/7 support. The supplied plan terms do not establish renewal conditions, so check those before subscribing.

Platforms

The latest version requires Windows 10 or later on a 64-bit system. Version 3 supports Windows 7 and Windows 8, so older Windows users may have an option, but not the latest release. There is no listed support for other platforms.

Who it's for

Choose iTop Easy Desktop if you work on Windows and want automatic desktop grouping plus direct folder access, with wallpapers and utility tools available in the same application. It is less suitable if you need broad personalization without paying, need more than three boxes on the free tier, or depend on a current release on Windows 7 or 8.

Pros and cons

Pros: Automatic category sorting, filename search and Folder Portal cover distinct parts of desktop cleanup and access.
Pros: The combination of password-protected Private Box, calendar synchronization, screenshots and a large wallpaper collection extends its usefulness beyond icon management.
Pros: The five-device annual Pro plan costs 19.99 USD per year and includes six months free, a practical option for multiple PCs.
Cons: Free is limited to three boxes and limited wallpapers, so users wanting a fully developed workspace may need Pro.
Cons: Personalization of themes, taskbar, Start Menu, icons and mouse is Pro-only.
Cons: The latest version’s Windows 10-or-later, 64-bit requirement excludes older systems, despite version 3 supporting Windows 7 and 8.

Verdict

iTop Easy Desktop is a strong fit for Windows users who want automatic desktop organization alongside folder access, privacy and a useful set of extra tools. Its broad feature mix is the main reason to choose it; the three-box Free cap and Pro-only personalization are the main reasons to look elsewhere or budget for an upgrade.
