| Spec score · AI Noise Cancellation Software | 8.9 (#3) | 7.2 (#16) |
| Audio processing | The studio mic chain includes AI voice isolation, hum filtering, gating, four-band voice EQ, compression and auto-leveling. | The project states that processing adds 80 ms of latency and runs on the CPU. |
| Integrations | Apps including Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack, FaceTime, OBS and browsers can select DeskBroadcast Camera and DeskBroadcast Mic. | HushMic creates a PipeWire virtual microphone that can be selected as input in Discord, TeamSpeak, OBS, or a browser. |
| Latency | DeepFilterNet 3 adds approximately 40 milliseconds of end-to-end voice latency. | The project reports 80 ms of processing latency, plus PipeWire's own buffering. |
| Local processing | Video, audio and the learned room-noise profile remain on the Mac and are not sent to a cloud service. | Audio processing runs on the CPU, and the project says audio is not uploaded. |
| System requirements | DeskBroadcast requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later and supports Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. | The listed requirements are Linux on x86-64 with PipeWire and WirePlumber; PulseAudio apps need pipewire-pulse. |

In their own words
DeskBroadcast
DeskBroadcast turns a webcam and microphone into a software-defined studio, delivering processed video and voice to other apps as virtual camera and microphone devices. Its Look pipeline adjusts warmth, tint, exposure, brightness, contrast, saturation, vibrance, sharpness and background blur. The microphone chain includes AI voice isolation, hum filtering, gating, four-band EQ, compression and auto-leveling. Apps such as Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack, FaceTime, OBS and browsers can select its virtual devices. Video, audio and the learned room-noise profile remain on the Mac; the app has no account or media telemetry pipeline and works offline. Software image controls work with every camera, while hardware controls require a UVC-compliant USB webcam. DeskBroadcast requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later and supports Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. The free plan is fully functional but places a “deskbroadcast.com” watermark on output. Pro costs $79, paid once for 3 Macs. Voice isolation adds about 40 ms of latency, and Pro purchases qualify for a full refund if requested within 14 days.
