Devin is a coding tool that Cognition describes as an autonomous software engineer: it can plan, write, test and ship production code. Devin runs in the cloud or on a user's machine, tests in its own browser and works toward a pull request ready to merge; larger tasks can be divided among parallel cloud agents. For local work, Devin CLI runs in the terminal on macOS, Linux and Windows, while Devin Desktop provides an IDE with syntax highlighting, autocomplete, debugging tools, agent fleet management and shared context.
