In their own words

DFIRe

DFIRe is self-hosted case management software for digital forensics and incident response. Teams can configure case types, severity, assignments, and escalation from triage to incident response while keeping case history. Evidence records can be organized hierarchically with configurable attributes, custody verification, printable receipts, and transfer records. The software includes default playbooks for fifteen common case types, which users can adapt or replace, plus timers and reminders for breach notifications, statutory reporting, and other deadlines. Its IOC registry supports STIX 2.1 types, enrichment from named threat intelligence providers, and sharing through MISP and TAXII. Documented integrations include Slack, bidirectional Jira synchronization, webhooks, and SIEM or log forwarding. Reports support structured sections, QA, evidence inventories, and optional LLM drafting through a customer-selected provider. Security documentation describes OIDC sign-on, role-based access, encrypted attachments, and an immutable audit trail. DFIRe supports air-gapped use and offline licensing. The annual licence is €9,900 a year for unlimited users and cases in one production deployment; a 90-day trial is available.

Socianote

Socianote is a cloud platform for organisations managing programmes, people and case-related documents. It combines case intake forms, workflow automation, audit trails and reporting dashboards with real-time caseload visibility and overdue-review alerts. Admins can approve intake requests, reassign cases and export organisational data. CSV imports cover people, volunteers, programmes, enrolments and case shells; exports are available as CSV, PDF and per-person files. The free plan is indefinite, needs no credit card and supports up to 3 staff, 50 people, 1 programme and 200 documents. Starter is $99 a month for up to 5 staff, 500 people, 5 programmes and 2,000 documents. Plans are priced by organisation size rather than user count, and annual billing provides two months free, approximately 17% off. Web access is available, with participant and volunteer apps for iOS and Android on Enterprise. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit; staff TOTP MFA is available after enrollment. Each uploaded document is limited to 5 MB.
