In their own words
Diigo
Diigo is a personal knowledge-management tool for collecting, annotating, and organizing web material. While browsing on a computer, tablet, or phone, users can mark pages with highlights and sticky notes, then save links, pages, notes, and pictures in a cloud library. Saved pages can be archived and searched in full text. Groups can maintain shared repositories where members browse material and interact with page annotations. Diigo also supports saving items from social media, capturing links and notes by email, importing bookmarks from browsers, Delicious, or Pinboard, and exporting libraries and annotated PDFs. Its listed services include an API, blog auto-publishing, tagrolls, and linkrolls. Diigo offers a browser extension, apps for Android and iOS, and Quick Note on Mac. The free plan allows 1,000 bookmarks or notes and 200 highlights, but has limits on other items and groups. Paid plans are Standard at $5 a month and Professional at $6 a month. Diigo says browsing history is not recorded except for pages specifically bookmarked to its servers.
LinkAce
LinkAce is a self-hosted web application for saving, organizing and sharing web links. Users can apply tags, create custom lists, then search, filter and sort links by properties such as URL and creation date. LinkAce regularly checks saved sites and can notify users when a site is unavailable or has moved. When a link is saved, it also asks the Internet Archive Wayback Machine to archive the site. A browser bookmarklet opens a form to capture the website being viewed. The application supports multiple users and single sign-on through OAuth or OIDC, alongside a REST API and Zapier integration. Guest access can expose links, tags and lists that are not marked private, according to each item’s visibility. Deployment options include Docker, Kubernetes Helm, cloud deployment and manual PHP setup; supported databases include SQLite, MySQL/MariaDB and PostgreSQL. The self-hosted version is free and open source. Managed hosting is €4.00 per month, paid annually, with unlimited links, lists, tags and users under a fair-use traffic policy.
