In their own words
DishCost
DishCost is a web application for independent, single-location restaurants that calculates recipe costs, tracks ingredient price changes and highlights weak menu margins. Recipe views show line-item ingredient costs, total and per-serving costs, food cost percentage, suggested price and profit per serving. Changing an ingredient price automatically recalculates recipes and prep items that use it, including dishes built from those prep items. Weekly order counts classify dishes as Stars, Plowhorses, Puzzles or Dogs. Ingredients and prices can be imported in bulk through CSV using a downloadable template. Pro adds order-guide imports from Sysco, US Foods, BEK or other vendors, with column mapping and SKU-based price updates, plus PDF and CSV exports and email support. The free tier has no time limit, and free tools can be used without an account. Pro costs $39 a month through Stripe for one kitchen, unlimited recipes and ingredients, and no per-seat fees. DishCost does not provide multi-location dashboards, live POS sync, inventory counts, invoice OCR, or in-app per-recipe nutrition and allergen tagging.
reciProfity
reciProfity is cloud-hosted software for food costing, inventory control, and recipe management. It calculates recipe costs from ingredient prices and yield data, then suggests selling prices based on food-cost targets. Inventory reports cover on-hand stock, actual-versus-ideal variance, sales mix, and menu engineering information; offline mode protects data if Wi-Fi is lost during counts. Its recipe database handles nested prep and serving recipes, supplier ingredients, and more than 200 units of measurement with conversions. Integrated USDA nutritional data supports recipe nutrition calculations, and recipes can be tagged with allergens from ingredients. The system imports sales-mix files from POS systems that export XLS files, and lists integrations including Caterease, QuickBooks Online, Passport Accounting, Sage 100, PlateIQ, iControl, Accardis, and Upserve. Plans listed are Starter at $49 a month, limited to 10 recipes; Core at $82 a month; Operations at $99 a month; and Multi-Unit at $124 a month. A 30-day trial with the full Analyzer plan and support is offered.
