In their own words

Docling

Docling converts documents into structured data for AI workflows, with inputs ranging from PDFs and Office files to HTML, images, audio, video, email, EPUB, and Apple iWork files. For PDFs, it processes page layout, reading order, table structure, code, formulas, and image classification. Output options include Markdown, HTML, WebVTT, DocLang, DocTags, lossless JSON, text, LaTeX, and JSONL chunks. Multiple OCR engines are supported, including EasyOCR, Tesseract, OcrMac, and RapidOCR. Documented integrations include LangChain, LlamaIndex, Haystack, Crew AI, and other AI frameworks and agent tools. Docling can run as a local Python library or self-operated HTTP service, as well as through managed and private deployment offerings. The project says local processing can work offline after models are downloaded and cached, without uploading documents. Managed requests have size, rate, and concurrency limits, and provider terms determine retention and processing boundaries. The open-source library is free and MIT licensed; a separate IBM watsonx trial is free for 30 days and 5,000 pages. Docling is hosted by the LF AI & Data Foundation and began with IBM Research Zurich's AI for knowledge team.

HTML2PDF Rocket

HTML2PDF Rocket is a cloud service that converts a URL or submitted HTML into a PDF or image file. It can execute JavaScript while rendering pages, and its API lists JPG, PNG, BMP, and SVG as image outputs. PDF settings include page size, orientation, margins, grayscale, forms, print stylesheets, and headers and footers. The service is positioned for generating downloadable reports, brochures, and invoices from webpages. Code examples are provided for C#, JavaScript, PHP, Java, and Android, with links to examples for Python, Node.js, Go, and Swift. URL conversion supports SSL, HTTPS pages, and basic authentication. The maker says conversions taking over 30 seconds, or input or output files larger than 6 Mb, need batch or asynchronous parameters. The Free Plan costs nothing and includes 200 credits per month with a 5 Mb per-PDF limit; large PDFs use credits based on network traffic. BOOTSTRAPPED costs $5 a month and includes 500 credits and a 50 Mb per-PDF limit. Free generation stops when credit use reaches 100%, while paid accounts may continue at a slower generation rate.
