Docutain vs Google Photos

Docutain scans paper documents into searchable PDFs or images using automatic capture and OCR text recognition. Its Android and iOS apps provide unlimited scans on the free plan, and a Windows desktop version is also available. Scanning and OCR happen locally on the device. Docutain says it uses encryption and password protection, does not pass personal data to third parties, and is GDPR-compliant. Users can optionally connect cloud providers and choose where documents are stored, or share scans by email, local folders or messenger apps. The Windows version accepts email, folder and scanner inputs. A desktop license covers up to three devices, while the mobile apps can be used on any number of the user's mobile devices. The SDK offers document scanning, barcode scanning and data extraction for Android, iOS or Windows apps. Windows desktop and Premium plans include a 14-day trial that ends without automatic purchase. Listed annual prices start at €2.08/month for Windows; Premium annual costs €4.17/month, and monthly options are also listed.

Google Photos is a service for editing, organizing, searching, backing up, and sharing photos and videos. It runs on Android, iOS, and the web. The app lists AI editing tools including Magic Eraser and Photo Unblur. It supports full-resolution RAW image backup and cloud storage for 4K video. Google lists paid monthly plans including Basic at $1.99 a month for 100 GB, Google AI Plus at $9.99 a month for 2 TB, and Google AI Pro at $19.99 a month for 5 TB; each allows up to five additional people. The natural-language search example is limited to eligible US users aged 18 or older who meet specified language and settings requirements. Google says data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and users can delete or export their content.
