In their own words
Docutain
Docutain scans paper documents into searchable PDFs or images using automatic capture and OCR text recognition. Its Android and iOS apps provide unlimited scans on the free plan, and a Windows desktop version is also available. Scanning and OCR happen locally on the device. Docutain says it uses encryption and password protection, does not pass personal data to third parties, and is GDPR-compliant. Users can optionally connect cloud providers and choose where documents are stored, or share scans by email, local folders or messenger apps. The Windows version accepts email, folder and scanner inputs. A desktop license covers up to three devices, while the mobile apps can be used on any number of the user's mobile devices. The SDK offers document scanning, barcode scanning and data extraction for Android, iOS or Windows apps. Windows desktop and Premium plans include a 14-day trial that ends without automatic purchase. Listed annual prices start at €2.08/month for Windows; Premium annual costs €4.17/month, and monthly options are also listed.
LumenScan
LumenScan is a mobile document scanner for Indian paperwork, with tools to recognize text, extract GST details, mask Aadhaar numbers, and sign PDFs on the device. It runs on Android and iOS. Its on-device OCR works offline and reads English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The app detects page edges, corrects perspective, reduces shadows, and exports PDF, JPEG, PNG, or Word files. Scans are sorted into categories such as IDs, invoices, receipts, legal documents, and notes; tags, favorites, and full-text search help organize them. Security options include a biometric vault, Aadhaar and PAN masking before sharing, and password-protected PDF exports. The maker says scans and OCR text are not uploaded to its servers, though anonymous product analytics and crash diagnostics are enabled by default and exclude document contents and personal details. The free plan includes daily scans, PDF export, and on-device OCR. Pro monthly costs ₹149 per month; Pro yearly is ₹999 per year and includes a 7-day trial. The listed lifetime option is ₹2999 per month, with a one-time payment and no renewal.
