In their own words
Doorstop
Doorstop manages textual requirements alongside source code in version control. It stores requirements and other linkable items as YAML files in directories that form documents, then organizes those documents into a tree and can validate traceability across it. It publishes document hierarchies and trace matrices as plain text, HTML, LaTeX, or Markdown; templates can shape output, and HTML and LaTeX publishing use them. Requirements can be imported or exported as YAML, CSV, TSV, or Excel files. Doorstop requires Python 3.10 or later and Git or another version control system, and it can be added to a Poetry project. It runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows, with API and self-hosted options, including standalone web-server or WSGI deployment. An experimental desktop GUI handles basic editing. The tool is free at free and licensed under LGPLv3. Baseline support and version history are listed, but approval workflows are not.
OSRMT
OSRMT is a free, configurable open-source tool for defining and managing software requirements. Its workflow spans features, requirements such as use cases, design, implementation, and test cases, while tracking how requirements connect and progress. Work can be organized by phase, and teams can configure the tool and manage multiple projects at once. The project describes both a single-user desktop application and a multiuser web application with a centralized server and desktop or web client. The README lists Windows, Linux (CentOS), and macOS as tested systems. Desktop setup requires one of those operating systems, an archive utility, and JRE 1.8 or later. The web version deploys on JBoss and is accessible locally on port 8080. Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL, and PostgreSQL are listed as external database options; no additional database setup is required for initial use. The project uses the GNU GPL-2.0 license. Users can look to issue reports, a request process, an FAQ, online source and documentation, and a community support email address.
