XKit Document Compare
XKit Document Compare is a free web tool for comparing Word, PDF, and text files. It places original and revised documents side by side, highlighting additions in green and deletions in red. Word-by-word comparison can reveal small edits inside paragraphs. Users can upload files or paste text, including DOCX, DOC, text-based PDF, and TXT, and can compare different supported formats. The page says Mammoth.js extracts Word text and PDF.js extracts PDF text in the browser, so files are not uploaded for processing. XKit’s privacy policy says tool inputs, files, and processed data are not collected or stored, although anonymous website usage information and cookies may be used. The tool compares text rather than visual formatting and does not produce redline output. Scanned PDFs need OCR first; tables and lists become text, and documents over 100 pages may take longer.
