Overview

Drag combines a shared inbox with board-based work management, so assignments, notes, and shared drafts sit alongside team email. That makes it a better fit for teams that need visible ownership and handoffs than for people seeking a standalone personal email client. It serves support, sales, operations, IT, and HR teams, with a stated focus on organizations of up to 200 people using Gmail and Google Workspace.

Key features

Boards, assignments, @mentions, notes, subtasks, and collision detection help teams divide incoming email and avoid overlapping replies. Kanban, list, and preview views provide different ways to track the same work. These tools give shared email more structure, though Starter’s limit of 10 automation rules may be restrictive for teams with complex routing. Its reporting window is also shorter at three months, versus six on Plus and 12 on Pro.

Drag supports email, WhatsApp, live chat in early access, and a help center in one queue. The channel mix is a strong fit when a team wants to bring more than email into its customer workflow, but WhatsApp is reserved for Pro. Varley offers Copilot, Agents, Intelligence, and email assists: Plus includes six AI assists, Copilot, and Intelligence, while Starter can add AI credits. Pro adds Drag Agent and AI knowledge based on links, FAQs, and files.

Native Google Workspace and WhatsApp connections, Zapier support for more than 5,000 apps, and a REST API and MCP server give Drag options for connecting team workflows. API and MCP access are Pro features, so teams that need them should account for the higher tier.

Drag says it is GDPR compliant and CASA Tier 2 certified, uses TLS 1.2 for application communications and AES-256 for stored data, and does not store email content. It also says shared inbox messages are not copied into each teammate’s personal inbox and access can be revoked when someone leaves. That architecture may suit teams concerned about controlling access to shared customer email.

Pricing

Drag has no free plan. Its stated starting rate is $12/user/mo (annual), and a 7-day free trial includes every Pro feature without requiring a credit card. The listed monthly plan prices are higher than that annual-billing starting rate, so compare the billing term as well as the feature set before choosing.

Starter — 16.00 USD per month (billed monthly): Shared inboxes in Gmail, Kanban, list, and preview board views, assignments and @mentions, templates, notes, subtasks, Chrome extension, web, desktop, and mobile apps, and 10 automation rules. It suits teams that chiefly need shared email coordination; it gives up the included AI tools, unlimited automation, and longer reporting window of higher plans.
Plus — 22.00 USD per month (billed monthly): Everything in Starter, all six AI assists, Copilot and Intelligence, unlimited automation rules, email sequences, custom views, and AI-powered help center search. It fits teams that need AI assistance or more routing headroom without Pro’s WhatsApp channel and API access.
Pro — 30.00 USD per month (billed monthly): Everything in Plus, WhatsApp, Drag Agent, REST API and MCP access, AI knowledge from links, FAQs, and files, and round-robin assignment. It is the choice for teams that need these advanced channels and controls, but it is the most expensive listed monthly tier.

All plans allow unlimited users and have no seat minimum, which avoids a minimum-seat commitment as a team grows. Plans include a help center and live chat support; Plus adds onboarding and setup help, while Pro adds priority support.

Platforms

Drag supports Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, web, an extension, and an API. Its shared inbox is designed for Gmail, and the product can be used inside Gmail or in Drag’s web app.

Who it's for

Drag is a strong candidate for Google Workspace teams that need shared ownership of customer email, particularly when assignments, collision detection, and a common queue can reduce ambiguity across support, sales, operations, IT, or HR. Choose Starter for core coordination, Plus when AI assistance or unlimited automation matters, and Pro when WhatsApp, API access, or Drag Agent is essential. It is less suitable for teams that need a free tier or do not work in Gmail.

Pros and cons

Pros: Unlimited users with no seat minimum makes the plans practical for teams that do not want seat thresholds.
Pros: Assignments, notes, shared drafts, and collision detection make shared email more accountable than an unstructured common inbox.
Pros: The Pro-inclusive trial lets teams evaluate the full feature set for seven days without a credit card.
Cons: There is no free plan, and the listed monthly prices start at 16.00 USD per month.
Cons: Starter is limited to 10 automation rules and three months of reporting; unlimited rules and longer reporting require higher plans.
Cons: WhatsApp and REST API/MCP access require Pro, making those capabilities a meaningful reason to pay for the top tier.

Alternatives

For a different workflow focus, Shared Inbox Software is a category to compare. Teams seeking a broader AI email toolset can browse AI Email Assistants. HR teams comparing workflow products can consult HR Workflow Automation Software.

Jotform has a free plan and web, iOS, and Android platforms; consider it when those characteristics are a better fit. Atwork offers a free plan and trial, with its Free plan supporting up to five members; it is an option for smaller teams evaluating HR workflow automation. Pipefy has a free Starter plan capped at five processes and 10 users, which may suit teams whose workflow fits those limits. Requester offers a free plan with three approver seats, unlimited submitters, and 50 requests per month, making those limits relevant for teams evaluating request workflows. Leapsome is a paid option with a free trial and a Compensation plan at 3.00 EUR per month per employee. Cflow is a paid option with a free trial; its Joy plan is 22.00 USD per month, with a 10-user minimum and a 20-workflow maximum. ClayHR is a paid option with a free trial and a Professional plan at 7.00 USD per month per employee. Kissflow is a paid option with a free trial and fixed annual agreements.

Verdict

Choose Drag if your Gmail-based team needs a shared, accountable workflow for customer email and values assignments, collision detection, and room to add channels and AI. Its strongest case is coordinated inbox work without a seat minimum; look elsewhere if a free plan is essential, or weigh the higher Pro price carefully if WhatsApp or API access is the deciding feature.
