| Age requirement | The service is restricted to users who are at least 18 and the age of majority in their jurisdiction. | The service is intended for users aged 18 and older. |
| Company | DreamGen describes itself as an independently run business operating without reliance on external funding. | The privacy policy identifies the company as OpenRP, Inc. and says it is based in the United States. |
| Data handling | Primary generative models run on DreamGen infrastructure, but requests can be routed to vetted third-party providers for some functions or during high demand. | The privacy policy says account data and user content are retained while an account is active, and raw system logs are routinely rotated and deleted after a standard 30-to-90-day period unless needed longer for security investigations. |
| Documentation | Documentation covers role-play, story writing, scenario creation, publishing, importing, image generation, model settings and community resources. | OpenRP documentation provides guides and API references for the Behavior Engine. |
| Integrations | No official integration catalog was verified; the independent product profile only documents importing content and using selected third-party models inside DreamGen. | Behavior pipelines can send generated messages to a Discord bot and make HTTP requests to outside services. |
| Privacy and training | User content is not used to train or improve models unless the user explicitly opts in. | OpenRP says it does not use private roleplays, inputs or outputs to train its own models and does not sell user content. |
| Security | The privacy policy lists encryption in transit, least-privilege access controls, access monitoring and logging, and vendor due diligence as security measures. | OpenRP says it uses industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect data, while noting it cannot guarantee absolute security. |
| Support | The service provides email support and a Discord community link. | The homepage lists community support for Free and priority support for Plus; the privacy policy provides [email protected] for account and privacy requests. |
| What it does | DreamGen provides AI games, interactive role-play and story generation in which users define worlds and steer plots. | OpenRP is a collaborative node-based engine for creating interactive-fiction worlds, characters and narratives with AI. |

In their own words
DreamGen
DreamGen is a web service for interactive AI role-play and story writing. Users can start from a scenario or create a world, then steer a plot through conversations with multiple characters. Scenario controls let users set the plot, setting, style, characters, locations, objects, opening, and example interactions. Its Scenario Wizard guides creation of scenario ideas, characters, settings, and plot outlines. A separate story writer generates stories across genres, and DreamGen’s documentation includes a guide to image generation. The role-play guide describes a mobile interface with access to the scenario editor, settings, and role-play assistant. DreamGen says its main generative models run on its own infrastructure, though some requests may be routed to vetted third-party providers for particular functions or conditions. It says user data is not used to train or improve models unless users opt in; consent is off by default. The service is intended for people at least 18 and the age of majority where they live. A free plan is available; paid plans start at $7.83 a month.
OpenRP
OpenRP is a web-based collaborative engine for building interactive fiction with worlds, characters, and dynamic narratives. Its visual world editor combines characters, backstory, and locations. Characters in one world can develop memories of each other, while edited content is embedded for retrieval in chat. The Behavior Engine connects language-model calls with chats and lore using conditions, loops, parallel branches, and HTTP requests. Pipelines can send generated messages to a Discord bot. Users can fork worlds, track edits, and propose changes to the original creator. Model controls expose context limits and estimated and actual usage costs. The Free plan has unlimited characters and messages with free AI models; Plus costs $10 a month and adds unlimited public and private worlds, monthly model credits, expanded personas and slots, feature requests, and priority support.
