In their own words
Duo Mobile
Duo Mobile provides two-factor and multi-factor authentication for company and personal data on iOS and Android phones and tablets. Users can approve or deny sign-ins with Duo Push, or enter time-based passcodes generated by the app. It also supports third-party TOTP accounts, biometrics, and passcodes. Duo Restore backs up and restores Duo-protected accounts when a user changes devices, and Security Checkup provides a mobile-device security score through app notifications. For organizations, Duo connects with legacy infrastructure, custom apps, VPNs, SaaS tools, and offline devices. Integration methods include RADIUS, SAML/OIDC, Duo Authentication Proxy, and direct API connections. Adaptive policies can consider user role, location, application, network, and device health. Duo says it keeps private keys on users’ devices in a tamper-proof secure element and does not store passwords. The free plan covers 10 users; paid plans start at $3.00 per month, and a 30-day trial is listed. End users needing enrollment or troubleshooting help are directed to their organization’s Duo administrator.
Ente Auth
Ente Auth is a free authenticator for storing TOTP and HOTP two-factor codes. It is available on Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows, and web, with encrypted sync across mobile, desktop, and web devices. Account users can use end-to-end encrypted cloud backups; the maker says the cryptography has been externally audited. Ente Auth is open source and supports importing and exporting codes. Native imports are listed for 2FAS Authenticator, Aegis, andOTP, Bitwarden, Google Authenticator, LastPass, Proton, and Raivo OTP. Codes can be organized with search, tags, pins, notes, multi-select, and custom sorting, or shared through links that expire after 2, 5, or 10 minutes. Exports include plain text, encrypted files, and HTML QR codes compatible with Google Authenticator. The app can be used without an account, but those codes remain on the device and are not synced or backed up to Ente. App lock can use a device lock, PIN, or password; it protects the interface, not by re-encrypting Auth data.
