In their own words

Dynamsoft Label Recognizer

Dynamsoft Label Recognizer is an OCR SDK for extracting alphanumeric characters and standard symbols from images, including codes and other text that does not follow natural-language patterns. Developers can set recognition zones relative to a reference, such as a barcode, and use regular expressions or character models to constrain or check output. A product-label workflow can detect and crop a label, scan barcodes, read text fields, and return structured data in one pass. Supported image formats include BMP, TIFF, JPEG, PNG, and PDF; video recognition can combine partial text results across adjacent frames. Built-in processing can improve contrast, reduce noise, and correct distortion. It can be licensed independently or combined with other Capture Vision modules. Supported environments include Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, iOS, and browser-based JavaScript through WebAssembly, with bindings for JavaScript, Python, C++, C#, .NET, Java, Swift, and Kotlin. The maker describes on-device, on-premise, offline, and air-gapped deployment. A free 30-day SDK trial is offered; pricing starts at $1,249/yr, and there is no free plan.

Surya

Surya is a 650M-parameter OCR model for extracting text and analyzing document structure. It handles layout, reading order and tables, and supports OCR in 91 languages. Surya 2 returns page content as structured blocks that can include HTML, polygons, bounding boxes, confidence values and reading order. Table recognition can provide row and column geometry; full mode can also return HTML with spanning cells and header rows. Equations found in page OCR are represented as KaTeX-compatible LaTeX within math tags. Users can work with a Python package, command-line tools or an interactive Streamlit app for images and PDFs. Layout, OCR and table recognition require an inference backend: vLLM on NVIDIA GPUs or llama.cpp on CPU and Apple Silicon, or a connection to an existing server. Surya is free and open source. The code uses Apache 2.0, while the model weights have a separate modified AI Pubs Open Rail-M license with commercial-use conditions. It is specialized for documents, not photos or natural scenes.
