In their own words
Eat App
Eat App is a cloud-based platform for restaurant reservations, table management, and guest CRM. It accepts real-time online bookings around the clock through a venue’s website, social media, and partner network. Staff can manage tables in timeline, grid, floor, or list views, with capacity controls and pacing tools. Guest profiles can store preferences, visit history, and spending, while CRM tools segment guests for targeted email and SMS campaigns. Reports cover busy periods, no-shows, waitlists, guest trends, and spending patterns. Integrations span POS, voice, payments, booking channels, hotel or property-management systems, and printers, with examples including Lightspeed, Google, Instagram, Stripe, and Mews. Eat App is available on web, Android, and iOS; mobile and iPad apps support offline use and sync when a connection returns. The Free plan costs nothing and is limited to 100 guests monthly. Paid plans start at $69/mo (annual), and a 14-day trial is listed. The company says data is encrypted in transit and at rest and that it has SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certifications.
OpenResto
OpenResto is a self-hosted booking system for independent restaurants, bars, cafes and similar businesses. Guests can choose a time, hold a table for five minutes and book without an account. Staff can manage multiple locations, floor sections and waitlists, or pause bookings. Restaurants can set the name, colour and icon guests see. The booking experience is available on the web and can also be published as branded iOS and Android apps. The site describes push reminders sent the day before and passes for Apple and Google Wallet; guests can also add bookings to Google, Apple or Outlook calendars. OpenResto runs on the restaurant’s server with Docker Compose and stores bookings in a local SQLite database. The maker describes it as MIT licensed and says it has no per-cover fees. A scoped API supports integrations, while optional outgoing email uses the restaurant’s SMTP setup. Prebuilt Linux amd64 and arm64 images are listed for deployment on a VPS, Raspberry Pi or NAS. The maker says guest data stays on the restaurant’s machine and bookings can be hard-deleted for GDPR requests.
