Ecosia Browser
Ecosia Browser is a free Chromium-based browser presented as a way to fund tree planting while browsing. Ecosia search is built into its address bar, and an Ecosia profile shows how users are helping people, the planet and animals. The browser includes ad blocking, cross-device sync and a privacy panel that warns about unsafe sites and lets users set cookie preferences for all sites. It is available for Android, iOS, Linux, macOS and Windows. Ecosia says its AI runs on European servers and uses smaller models than most mainstream models. It also says pages load up to three times faster than most mainstream browsers, and that the browser conserves battery by limiting background activity. Desktop use requires Windows 10 or later, macOS 13 or later, or Linux. Linux is verified on Ubuntu 25.10 and later, with full functionality not guaranteed on other distributions. Users can import history, bookmarks, passwords and other data from another browser, but automatic detection does not detect Safari data; Firefox may offer only limited import options.
