In their own words

EdgeSVG

EdgeSVG converts raster images into SVG vector graphics using an open-source vectorization engine. Its automatic mode categorizes an image as a logo, icon, illustration, or photo, then selects a tracing approach. Other documented modes include convert, logo, premium, auto, smart, and optimal; smart mode searches iteratively within SSIM and file-size constraints. Output scoring covers similarity, edge alignment, foreground overlap, topology, file size, and path counts. The project offers Rust, Python, Node.js, command-line, and WebAssembly interfaces under a shared response contract. Its WebAssembly engine runs in the browser without a server or uploads, according to the maker. Batch processing handles directories and can produce JSON and Markdown reports with per-image scores and summaries. CI/CD examples cover GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Docker, and pre-commit hooks. EdgeSVG is free and published under the Apache 2.0 license, with Linux, macOS, Windows, and web support. It is neither a hosted API nor a GUI design tool.

Vecto

Vecto converts raster images such as logos, icons, illustrations, scans, and photos into editable SVG files. It accepts PNG, JPG, BMP, and GIF, preserves transparency, and provides a live side-by-side preview with synced zoom. Its tracer builds a connected mosaic, fitting shared boundaries once to avoid gaps or overlaps; it can represent straight edges as true lines and circles as exact arcs. Sub-pixel placement positions boundaries between pixels rather than snapping them to the pixel grid. Users can export SVGs or copy them to the clipboard for design and cutting software. Photo tracing can create stylized posterized vector art with a chosen number of colors. The maker says processing happens locally, images are not uploaded, and the app works offline without an account. Vecto is MIT-licensed and available free to download or build. The graphical application is Windows-only; Linux and macOS downloads are command-line tools for tracing, batch jobs, and benchmarking. A Microsoft Store version costs $7.99, paid once.
