In their own words
Edisphere
Edisphere is an EDI translation and data integration platform for linking business applications, ERP and cloud systems, and trading partners. It maps X12, EDIFACT, XML, JSON, SAP IDOCs, and proprietary fixed-length, variable-length, and CSV formats, with direct mapping to databases also supported. Listed exchange methods include FTP, email, SOAP and REST web services, AS2, common directories, common databases, and APIs. Mapping tools help create layouts and maps, generate test data, analyze layouts, and simulate maps. Edisphere validates messages for syntax and trading-partner requirements and reports errors. Its translation engine runs as a Windows background service, with email alerts for failures and logs for monitoring and audit. The maker describes horizontal scalability and active-active redundancy for continuous data exchange environments. Deployment options include an Azure-hosted managed shared instance, primarily for businesses in India, or a private on-premise or dedicated cloud instance. Private-instance requirements include a 4-core CPU, 16 GB RAM, 200 GB HDD, 64-bit Windows Server 2019, and SQL Server 2019 or Azure SQL. Pricing is customized and not listed; a free trial and initial mapping support are offered during solution evaluation.
OpenAS2
OpenAS2 is a free, GPLv3-licensed Java server implementing the EDIINT AS2 standard for exchanging business messages between trading partners. It sends and receives EDI-X12, EDIFACT, XML, and binary payloads, with HTTPS transport, compression, and synchronous or asynchronous MDNs. The project describes many signing and encryption algorithms, parallel file processing per partner, AS2 1.1 conformance, and FDA Automatic Submissions Gateway support. XML configuration controls sender and receiver modules, message and MDN storage, database tracking, directory resending, and optional health checks. H2 is the default tracking database, with alternatives configurable. The repository includes Docker build and run instructions and supports Java 11 and later. A REST API is available. The separate WebUI can run behind several web servers, but its package is deprecated, unsupported, and expected to be removed. The project runs on operating systems that run Java.
