Overview

Education Walkthrough gives school leaders a structured way to record classroom visits and follow up on observations. It is best suited to principals, instructional coaches, and district leaders who want consistent evidence and feedback workflows. The free tier is useful for a small pilot, but teams needing analytics or collaboration will need a paid plan.

Key features

Observation and follow-through

Leaders can start with a 10-minute Danielson Framework-based walkthrough, browse the template library, or build standards-aligned tools with the editor. Custom rubrics allow schools to apply their own criteria. Photo and video attachments, saved drafts, and customized PDF reports with a digital signature and school logo make records more complete than a checklist alone. Feedback workflows and professional-growth plans give observations a path toward follow-up.

Analytics and administration

School-wide analytics can surface patterns and growth areas across observations, making the platform more useful for leaders reviewing practice beyond individual visits. That distinction matters: Basic excludes analytics and collaboration, so it is not a substitute for a shared school-wide workflow.

Work saved offline syncs automatically when the device reconnects, which helps keep observations moving where connectivity is unreliable. Roster sync supports OneRoster v1.1 through ClassLink and Clever; Google Single Sign-On and Google Drive report storage are also supported. The maker describes the architecture as FERPA-first and offers role-based access control and data export by CSV or Google Drive. Support includes live chat and email, a 24/7 help center, onboarding, and customized professional learning.

Pricing

The Basic plan is free: one school, five teachers, and 10 walkthroughs per month, with no analytics or collaboration. Those caps make it appropriate for an individual leader or a small trial, not a growing observation program.

Individual costs 200.00 USD per year, billed annually per user, with a one-user maximum. It covers one school and 20 teachers with unlimited walkthroughs and analytics, but still has no collaboration. It suits a solo observer who needs analysis but does not need a shared team workspace.

School costs 400.00 USD per year, billed annually per user. It includes one school, unlimited teachers and walkthroughs, analytics, reports, AI Enhance, and team collaboration. This is the more fitting tier for a school team that needs shared work and broader capacity.

District has custom pricing, billed annually, with volume discounts available. It supports unlimited schools, teachers, and walkthroughs, plus district-wide reporting, insights, and team collaboration; it is the tier for multi-school organizations rather than a single-school buyer.

The School Teams trial lasts 14 days, and up to 25 people can join during the trial without being billed. The free tier's monthly walkthrough cap and the paid plans' annual billing are the main terms to weigh before choosing.

Platforms

Education Walkthrough runs on Android, iOS, and the web. Mobile apps support observation work away from a desk, while offline saving reduces dependence on a live connection during a visit.

Who it's for

Principals, school leaders, instructional coaches, district leaders, and regional leaders are the intended audience. It is a strong fit for organizations that want structured walkthroughs, evidence, feedback, and trend analysis in one process. It is less compelling for a solo user who needs collaboration, or for a team expecting a no-cost plan to support school-wide analytics.

Pros and cons

Pros: Multiple template paths, custom rubrics, and evidence attachments support structured observations without forcing every school into one form.
Pros: Offline saving, drafts, and customized signed PDF reports help preserve work and produce usable records.
Pros: School analytics, integrations, and growth plans connect observation records to broader review and follow-up.
Cons: Basic's one-school, five-teacher, 10-walkthrough monthly ceiling is restrictive, and it omits both analytics and collaboration.
Cons: Individual remains a single-user plan without collaboration; shared work requires the School tier or above.

Verdict

Choose Education Walkthrough if your school or district needs structured classroom observations, evidence-based feedback, and analytics that scale beyond a single observer. Its combination of offline work, templates, and school or district capacity is the core appeal. Look elsewhere if you need collaboration without paying for School, or if Basic's narrow monthly and teacher caps are too limiting.
