In their own words
edX
edX is an online course provider offering courses, certificates, executive education, microcredentials and degrees from edX, member institutions, 2U and other organizations. Learners can audit courses for free, but the audit track limits content, omits graded assignments and certificates, and ends access to materials when the course ends. Verified individual courses start at around $50 and include graded work, a certificate and continued access to lectures, readings and lessons. Multi-course professional certificate programs start at around $500; executive education programs can cost at least $2,500. Courses combine video and text, discussions, and different problems and assessments; many are self-paced, and individual courses generally take two to six weeks. Android and iOS apps support enrollment, most assignments, discussions and offline video downloads, but not timed or proctored exams. Institutional and business offerings include LMS integrations, SSO, grade pass-back, analytics dashboards and administrative tools. edX reports a network of 100 million learners and more than 250 content partners.
eKnowledge
eKnowledge is a course marketplace and learning management system for learners, instructors, tutors, employees, employers, and institutions. Courses can be instructor-led, self-paced, blended, or fully online. Educators can upload SCORM material or create courses with content-authoring tools; the platform also lists xAPI, cmi5, and iSpring. Learners and educators can track activity, resource progress, and completion, while educators can manage assignment marking and grade moderation. Forums, discussions, wikis, glossaries, database activities, and teams support course interaction. Integrations or file-management links include Google, Zoom, MS OneDrive, Dropbox, and Google Drive. The interface is responsive on desktop and mobile, with multilingual content and users. Organizations can use a white-label LMS with a branded domain and a portal tailored to their training strategy; administrators define roles and permissions. eKnowledge offers a free plan and subscription access, with Android, iOS, and web availability. It advertises 24/7/365 support and a 30-day refund or credit for most content purchases.
