DeploymentThe CLI can run locally on Linux and macOS, and production deployment uses Kubernetes with Envoy Gateway. The product is distributed as a single binary with an embedded admin console and no Node runtime requirement.
ObservabilityThe CLI supports OpenTelemetry tracing and can record request and response details; the documentation describes configuration to hide input and output content. The console reports token and cost KPIs, usage breakdowns and full per-attempt request logs with CSV export.
SecurityThe project describes upstream authentication for securing connections to AI services and says provider credentials can be kept out of application workloads.Upstream keys are encrypted at rest with AES-256.

In their own words

Envoy AI Gateway

Envoy AI Gateway, now named Agent Router, is an open-source control plane for managing AI and agent traffic through Envoy. It provides an OpenAI-compatible API for hosted and self-hosted models and MCP servers, with integrations for providers including OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Google Gemini, AWS Bedrock, Mistral, and Anthropic. Traffic controls include model virtualization, provider failover, token quotas, and usage-based rate limiting. Its MCP gateway supports server multiplexing, tool routing, OAuth authentication, and observability; InferencePool support adds routing and load balancing for inference endpoints. Credentials can be managed centrally, and supported short-lived credential flows include AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, and GCP Vertex AI. The project describes metrics collection and monitoring for AI workloads. The free open-source project is listed at free. Its CLI supports local use on Linux and macOS; production Kubernetes deployment uses Envoy Gateway and requires compatible dependencies. The project uses the Apache 2.0 license and points users to Discord and GitHub issues for help.

YoloRouter

YoloRouter is a gateway that sends AI model requests to multiple providers through a compatible API. It accepts OpenAI Chat Completions and Responses, Anthropic Messages, and Gemini generateContent protocols, and translates between supported formats when the client and provider use different ones. Routing includes ordered provider candidates, failover, and pooling of upstream keys; the documentation lists access to providers including OpenAI and Anthropic through one endpoint. Streaming uses Server-Sent Events with usage tracking. Alongside chat, the gateway exposes OpenAI Images and Videos APIs, with billing based on delivered images or video seconds. It can compress bulky tool output before forwarding it upstream and report measured savings. API keys can have model allowlists, rate and concurrency limits, budget caps, expiry, and revocation. The admin console supports multiple users, single sign-on, usage visibility, and account controls. Self-hosted deployment is a single binary with an embedded console, SQLite by default, or optional PostgreSQL. The self-hosted plan is free. Cloud billing uses top-up credits, with no subscription or minimum spend.
